2025 Tata Altroz Facelift Launches Today: What To Expect From India's Strongest Premium Hatchback

Tata Motors is set to launch the facelifted Altroz today. This is the first major overhaul to the premium hatchback since its market debut in 2020. The facelift will be available in five trims- Smart, Pure, Creative, Accomplished S and Accomplished+ S. With hours left for the launch, here's a deeper look at the new Altroz.
The premium hatchback segment has been posting low monthly volumes till we first heard about the new Altroz. With the launch confirmed, we got to see a rise in heat in the segment. The new Altroz, from what we know of it yet, is set to dominate the segment.
A lot seems to have improved on the new Altroz. Expect tasteful revisions in design like new bumpers, new LED headlamps with better-looking DRLs, redrawn body lines and refreshed panels, full-width LED lightbar at the rear, new 16-inch 'Drag-cut' wheels and flush-type door handles.
Tata Motors has revised the colour palette as well. The new Altroz offers five colour choices- Dune Glow, Ember Glow, Royal Blue, Pure Grey and Pristine White. The pre-facelift used to come with six colour options.
Inside, the layout, trims and colours used see major changes. The dash now gets a fresh layout and updated trims. The manufacturer calls it the 'Grand Prestigia'. You'll find the design to have similarities with the interiors of the Nexon and Curvv.
The facelift also comes with more features. Major additions include a 10.25-inch all-digital instrument cluster, which can even project maps and navigation, in addition to regular data, a 10.25-inch high-definition touchscreen by Harman, which comes with an 8-speaker (4 speakers and 4 tweeters) audio system and customisable audio modes- AudioworX, and a new steering wheel design (which the manufacturer calls 'Smart Digital Steering Wheel'.) with integrated controls. The infotainment unit will also feature wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
The new hatchback will also come with touch-based controls for HVAC and climate control. It even gets the 'Xpress Cool' function. Other notable features are an air purifier, a single-pane sunroof, a wireless charger, climate control with rear AC vents, push-button start/stop, cruise control, auto-folding ORVMs, and revised ambient lighting.
The new Altroz will have extensive focus on safety and come with a 360 degree camera unit. It also gets a blind spot monitor which uses feed from the mirror-mounted camera units.
The seats are new on the facelift and feature Beige upholstery. The lighter colourway instils a sense of space and coziness in the cabin. We have explained how the facelift differs from vehicle it replaces in a previous article.
When it launches later today, the new Altroz will become the only model in its segment to offer diverse powertrain choices. Even when most of its competitors like the Maruti Baleno and the Hyundai i20 have resorted to petrol engines, the Altroz continues to offer a diesel mill. The facelift retains its predecessor's 1.5L diesel engine that produces 88.76 bhp and 200 Nm.
It also offers the choice of a naturally aspirated 1.2L petrol and a CNG dual-fuel. The CNG version will continue to feature the twin-cylinder technology, which packs the fuel in two small, interconnected cylinders, rather than stuffing it into a large, single unit. The transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed DCT unit.
The diesel engine will be mated to just the manual box, while the automatic can be had on the 1.2L petrol. It remains to be seen if Tata Motors will keep the 120 hp turbocharged petrol engine limited to the Racer variant alone...
