Tata Punch Facelift Confirmed For 2025 Launch: What To Expect

Tata Motors has aggressive plans for product portfolio expansion. It is reported to be planning over 30 launches by the end of this decade. The planned lineup will have all-new models and facelifts/updates of existing ones. One of the earliest to arrive will be the facelifted Punch. The latest news has it that Tata Motors could launch the new Punch during the festive season this year.
The new SUV will likely have its launch in October 2025. The manufacturer has been testing the facelifted Punch for quite some time now. Mule sightings have now become more frequent, hinting at an imminent market launch.
Going by the spy images that have surfaced online, the new Punch will borrow several of its styling cues from the all-electric version. The front fascia is expected to feature a new bumper, slimmer headlamps which resemble those of the EV, a new grille and a revised LED DRL design. The facelifted micro-SUV will also have new alloy wheels. We might also see a fresh rear bumper as well.
Inside, the new Punch will have a better design and trims and materials which feel more upmarket, than the outgoing model. The feature list is expected to witness a major revision as well.
Test mule sightings have confirmed the presence of a large infotainment screen. The new Punch EV features a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This was recently introduced on the ICE Punch as well. The facelift will likely carry over the same. Spy shots suggest that the screen will have slim bezels. It is unclear if the screen size would further expand.
Other things visible in the spy shots are the dashboard's layered design, all-digital instrument cluster, and Tata's new two-spoke steering wheel with gloss Black panel and an illuminated logo. The outgoing Punch comes with a three-spoke wheel. The new micro-SUV is likely to feature touch-based HVAC controls similar to the ones seen in the new Altroz.
No major change is expected on the powertrain front. The 2025 Punch facelift will likely retain the familiar 1.2L, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine and the CNG unit. The NA engine makes 86bhp and 113Nm of torque on the outgoing model and comes mated to a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox. These are likely to remain the same on the facelift as well.
The CNG version, on the other hand, has 73.4bhp and 103Nm of torque on offer, and comes only with the 5-speed manual gearbox. The update might give the Punch iCNG, the option of an AMT transmission.
From what we know yet, the new Punch will have significant changes gone into it. It is thus likely to command a price premium over the outgoing model. At the time of writing this article, the Punch is priced in the range of Rs 6.20 lakh – Rs 10.32 lakh (all, ex-showroom). The facelift could make this go slightly upwards. The micro-SUV now comes in five grades- Pure, Pure (O), Adventure S, Adventure+ S and Creative+. These are likely to remain unchanged on the facelift.
Tata Motors has plans of doubling down on the small SUV space. It is known to be working on another small-sized SUV which will likely sit between the Punch and the Nexon when launched. Internally codenamed 'Scarlet', it is still in the early developmental stage.
This sub-4m SUV will have both ICE and EV versions when launched, just like the Punch. Reports say that it will have a boxy shape inspired by that of the larger Sierra. The production-spec Scarlet will likely source its powertrains from the Nexon or the Curvv.
