As the Indian electric vehicle (EV) landscape continues to evolve, more manufacturers are coming up with interesting product launches. More interestingly, the mass market EV segment is now witnessing increased footfall. Here are five affordable electric cars and SUVs expected to launch in India this year.

In the first week of June, Tata Motors revealed the starting price of the highly anticipated Harrier.EV. The electric SUV starts at Rs 21.49 lakh, ex-showroom. The carmaker is expected to announce the prices of all variants in the coming weeks.

Tata Motors will start taking orders for the SUV from July 2, 2025. The Harrier.EV is underpinned by the manufacturer's Acti.EV Plus platform. Two battery packs are offered- 65 kWh and 75 kWh. The larger battery pack is claimed to offer a range of over 500 km per charge.

The top-spec Harrier.EV comes with two electric motors. The combined output of this setup is 369 bhp and 500 Nm of torque. The vehicle can sprint to 100 kph from a complete halt in just 6.3 seconds. The lower variants get a single motor mounted at the rear, making 238 PS.

Tata Motors has packed the Harrier.EV with features and technology. From a 14.5-inch central touchscreen by Harman powered by Samsung Neo QLED to Premium JBL Audio with Dolby ATMOS and a 540 degree surround view, remote parking and terrain modes, the list is quite long.

Tata Sierra EV

Another highly anticipated EV launch from Tata Motors is the all-electric Sierra. The ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) version will arrive first and will be joined by the EV form later. The production-spec was previously showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo this year.

The Sierra.EV will likely sit on the Acti.EV Plus platform that underpins the Harrier.EV. It could also borrow the electric Harrier's battery pack- 65 kWh and 75 kWh. We expect the Sierra EV to launch sometime around the festive season.

Kia Clavis EV

Kia will launch its first mass-market EV in India in July this year. It will be based on the recently launched Carens Clavis, but will borrow the underpinnings from the outgoing Creta EV. It will then be available with two battery pack choices- 51.4 kWh and 42 kWh. The smaller unit could come with a range of 390 km per charge while the other could deliver up to 473 km.

The electric MPV could have motor specifications and outputs similar to those of the Creta EV. It will become the first seven-seater mass-market EV in the country when launched. We expect it to be priced at around 20 lakh rupees.

Mahindra XUV 3XO EV

Mahindra is readying an electric SUV based on the outgoing XUV 3XO. When launched, it could sit below the XUV 400. The 3XO EV is expected to come with good equipment levels, range and performance. It could feature a 34.5 kWh battery pack along with a larger 39.4 kWh unit. The larger could offer a range of 456 km. The vehicle will come with a single electric motor that would produce 147hp and 310 Nm of torque.

The design could remain identical to that of the petrol/diesel counterpart. It will, however, have a tweaked grille design and new bumpers along with a redesigned tailgate. Mahindra is likely to price the 3XO EV in the Rs 13-17 lakh bracket.

Maruti eVitara

Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch its first and most-awaited electric SUV- the eVitara- in India later this year. It was originally expected to be out in March, but got delayed.

When launched, the eVitara will have two battery packs on offer- 49 kWh and 61 kWh. Both battery packs are likely to come with single-motor setups, the larger of which could produce 174hp and 300 Nm. Suzuki has an All Wheel Drive (AWD) variant (AllGrip-e) on sale in international markets. It remains to be seen if this will be brought to India.

Going by the example that was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, the eVitara will come feature-packed and could turn out to be a strong contender in its segment.
