5 new SUVs coming in next two months

The coming two months will be filled with excitement for the Indian automotive market. We say this because a number of different carmakers will be launching a total of 6 new SUVs in the country. So if you are one of those SUV lovers who are looking to bring home a new SUV, this list is definitely for you. So without taking any more of your precious time, let’s jump right into the list.

Tata Curvv EV

First off, the country’s largest electric carmaker Tata Motors is set to launch the Curvv EV. Based on Tata’s new Generation 2 EV architecture, the Curvv EV is expected to come with a range of over 500 km on a single charge. Apart from this, its main highlight will be its unique futuristic and modern-looking coupe roofline.

It will boast an aerodynamic silhouette and will get LED lighting elements to add to its design. On the inside, it will offer a cabin with a minimalist design, like the new Nexon facelift. It will get a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and touch-based HVAC controls. The Curvv EV is expected to be offered in the range of Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh.

Nissan X-Trail

Next up on the launch roster is the Japanese carmaker Nissan’s flagship SUV – X-Trail. The new X-Trail will be a seven-seater SUV offering in the premium luxury segment. Based on the CMF-C platform, it is expected to come with a hybrid powertrain option combining a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with an electric motor. It could deliver around 190 bhp.

The X-Trail will feature a modern and sophisticated design with a V-motion grille, sleek LED headlights, and sharp character lines. Inside, it will come equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with NissanConnect.

It will also get wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a head-up display. Additional features will include a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, multiple airbags, and advanced safety systems such as ProPILOT Assist. Pricing for the Nissan X-Trail is expected to start around Rs 25 lakh.

Mahindra Thar Armada

One of the most highly anticipated SUVs coming in the next two months is the Mahindra Thar Armada, the five-door iteration of the popular Thar three-door. The Thar Armada will come with more cabin room, a proper middle-row bench seat, and increased luggage space, making it a family-friendly option.

Externally, the Thar Armada will feature a new grille, LED headlights, vertically mounted door handles on the C-pillar, and 19-inch alloy wheels. Meanwhile, on the inside, it will boast a significant upgrade with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

It will also come with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, multiple airbags, Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and a panoramic sunroof. Powertrain options will include a 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 117 bhp and a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine offering 172-175 bhp.

There will also be a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine delivering 200-203 bhp. Both manual and automatic transmissions will be available, along with 4WD and 2WD layouts. The expected price range is between Rs 15 lakh to Rs 30 lakh.

Citroen Basalt

Fourth in this list is another coupe SUV, and this one will be launched by the French automaker Citroen. Known as the Basalt, this SUV-coupe is expected to rival midsize SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Production has already begun as per the reports.

The Basalt will likely feature a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster, and electric folding mirrors. It could also come with automatic climate control, cruise control, wireless charging, push-button start, and keyless entry.

Powering this SUV will be a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 110 bhp and 205 Nm of torque. It will come paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox or an optional 6-speed torque converter automatic. The pricing is expected to start around Rs 11 lakh to Rs 12 lakh.

Tata Nexon iCNG

The last car on this list is the Tata Motors Nexon iCNG. It will become the first-ever CNG car in India with a turbocharged engine. This new sub-compact SUV aims to compete directly with the Maruti Brezza CNG. The Nexon iCNG will feature Tata’s twin-cylinder technology for optimized boot space.

It will come powered by a 1.2-litre turbo engine producing 118 bhp and 170 Nm of torque. Design-wise, the Nexon iCNG retains the same look as the standard Nexon. It will feature the same split headlamp design at the front and connected LED taillights at the rear.

The interior will include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument gauge cluster. Safety features will include an advanced ECU, automatic fuel switching, direct CNG start, leak detection, micro-switch for automatic engine shut-off during refueling, and a 5-star safety-rated design.

Hyundai Alcazar Facelift

Hyundai is also gearing up to the launch off the new facelift Alcazar in India. The new iteration of the three-row SUV will become available just in time for the festive season of 2024. The new Alcazar will sport a heavily revised front fascia. It will feature a full-width LED light bar, a redesigned horizontal grille, and revamped bumpers.

The side profile will not be changed drastically except for new multi-spoke swirl pattern alloy wheels. The rear end will also see substantial updates, including connected rectangular taillights.

On the inside, the new Alcazar facelift will adopt a new dashboard layout inspired by the Creta facelift. It will come equipped with new twin 10.25-inch screens for the infotainment system and driver’s display. Additionally, it will also get Level 2 ADAS, dual-zone climate control, and a ton of other features.
