A few months after the launch of the all-new Maruti Swift, India’s largest car manufacturer is now planning to launch the updated or next-generation Maruti Dzire sedan. Maruti has been testing this sedan extensively on Indian roads, and it looks like the car is finally ready to hit the market. As per reports, the fourth-generation Maruti Dzire is expected to be launched by the end of August this year.

Just like the previous-generation Dzire, the upcoming sedan is also based on the Swift hatchback. However, unlike the previous version, Maruti is going to do a serious redesign of the exterior to make it look different from the Swift. The headlights, front grille, bumper, and fog lamps will all be redesigned. It is not going to be entirely different from the hatchback, but minor tweaks in terms of design will help Maruti create a new identity for the sedan.

The headlights will have a different design from the Swift. Similarly, the design of the alloy wheels is also expected to be different. The other major change in the car is going to be the rear. The upcoming sedan from Maruti will get a redesigned rear with a new set of tail lamps with LED elements. It remains to be seen if the manufacturer is going to offer a clear lens tail lamp with the Dzire, just like the Swift.

Other than these cosmetic changes, everything else about the Dzire is expected to be the same as the new Swift. Both models share many parts and features. Regarding features, it will offer more than the Swift.

It will be the first sedan in its segment to offer a single-pane electric sunroof. We can confirm this with the help of spy pictures that are available online.

The new Dzire will get a dashboard design similar to what the upcoming Swift will have. The layered dashboard design is somewhat similar to what we have seen in the Baleno and S-Cross, which Maruti sells in the market. Maruti is also expected to offer a floating-type touchscreen infotainment system and a 360-degree camera with the new Dzire.

Regarding engine options, the all-new Dzire will be offered with a single petrol engine option. This is the same engine that Maruti will offer in the hatchback. It is an all-new engine developed by Suzuki for better city performance and fuel efficiency. This is a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated engine from the Z-Series.

The upcoming Maruti Dzire will be offered with a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox option. Just like the outgoing model, Maruti will be offering the Dzire with a petrol engine option initially, and a CNG version will be introduced at a later stage. Maruti also has plans to introduce a strong hybrid version of the sedan in the future.

It is expected to get the Series Hybrid system which Maruti will be introducing in the Fronx first. With all these changes in place, the Maruti Dzire is expected to see a price increase. Maruti is expected to offer the new Dzire at a starting price of Rs 7 lakh, and the top-end variant might be priced around Rs 10.5 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
