Metal Barrier Pierces Through Mahindra Thar In A Bizarre Crash [Video]
Indian roads are extremely risky to drive on. Highway widening and expansion work is currently ongoing in most Indian states, promising better connectivity and reduced travel time in the future. Reckless or rash driving is also common on Indian roads, and it is not unusual to come across reports of accidents caused by carelessness. Here we have a video of a bizarre accident where the metal barrier on the roadside pierced through the front of a Mahindra Thar and came out from the rear.
The video was shared by Mohar Singh on his Instagram profile. The exact details of the accident are not available. The Mahindra Thar seen in the video is registered in Rajasthan, and we assume the accident happened somewhere there. We see a Mahindra Thar that has crashed into the roadside barrier.
What makes this accident weird or bizarre is the metal crash barrier. The barrier simply pierced through the metal body of the SUV and came out from the rear. There are a couple of videos available on this profile that show where the barrier entered. It looks like a high-speed crash.
The driver of the SUV must have lost control and crashed the SUV into the barrier. These are the old type of metal barriers, which use thin metal sheets to protect vehicles from falling off the road in case of an accident. However, these barriers often have gaps, and the edges are unprotected and sharp.
In this case, the Mahindra Thar crashed into the barrier. The barrier entered the car through the gap between the left-side fender and the wheel. The barrier went through the gap, pierced through the cabin, and came out from the right-side rear portion of the SUV. The barrier went through the SUV diagonally, slicing through the car like a hot knife through butter.
This is a Mahindra Thar LX hard top, and if you look carefully, there are no other major dents or scratches on this SUV other than the barrier. It appears that even after crashing into the barrier, the SUV had so much momentum that it continued forward for a few more meters before coming to a stop. There is not much information available about the occupants. We hope that all of them are safe without any major injuries.
Not the First Time
This is not the first time we have come across an accident like this. Last year, a BMW 3-Series went into a guardrail at high speed. The sedan was said to be driven at around 150 kmph, and the results were not pretty. The accident was reported from Gujarat and happened on an 8-lane highway.
The impact was so severe that the guardrail split the BMW 3-Series in two. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in this accident. While most highways in India are improving, we need proper training on how to handle cars at high speed and should remain alert at all times.
