BMW 3 Series '50 Jahre' Edition Launched At Rs 64 Lakh

BMW India marked a milestone in August 2025 with the introduction of two limited-edition models celebrating 50 years of the iconic 3 Series sedan. The BMW 330Li M Sport '50 Jahre' Edition and the BMW M340i '50 Jahre' Edition are positioned not just as commemorative variants but as collector’s models that honour five decades of engineering excellence. Each model will be restricted to 50 units, making them highly exclusive offerings for BMW enthusiasts and collectors in India.
The BMW 330Li M Sport '50 Jahre' Edition is priced at Rs 64 lakh (ex-showroom), while the sportier M340i '50 Jahre' Edition is priced at Rs 76.90 lakh. The difference of nearly Rs 13 lakh reflects the significant gap in performance and equipment between the two cars, especially the more powerful engine and advanced drivetrain of the M340i.
BMW has ensured that these special editions remain aspirational yet within reach of its core customer base. Both models are locally produced at BMW’s Chennai facility, underlining the plant’s ability to deliver limited-run, complex variants at global quality standards. Local manufacturing also allows BMW to offer competitive pricing when compared to similar fully imported luxury sedans.
Both editions get distinct exterior and interior details that set them apart from regular 3 Series models. The 330Li M Sport '50 Jahre' Edition features a dark-themed appearance with M High-Gloss Shadowline treatment across the grille, window surrounds, exhaust tips and diffuser. This results in a sleek, understated but premium aesthetic.
The M340i '50 Jahre' Edition is more performance-focused in its appearance. It comes with M Lights Shadowline elements, gloss black M mirrors and an M Aerodynamics package with body-coloured spoilers. The look is further sharpened by 19-inch Jet Black alloy wheels paired with red M Sport brake calipers, adding to its sporty identity.
Inside, exclusivity is reinforced by a laser-engraved '1/50' badge on the B-pillar. Carbon fibre trim runs across both cabins, complementing the sporty yet premium theme. The 330Li M Sport comes with carbon fibre finishes and a head-up display with 3D Augmented View navigation. The M340i '50 Jahre' Edition adds sport seats in black Vernasca leather with M highlights, along with an Anthracite headliner to create a focused driving environment. Together, these touches ensure the interiors live up to the cars’ limited-edition positioning.
The two editions also differ significantly under the bonnet. The 330Li M Sport '50 Jahre' Edition is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 254 BHP and 400 Nm of torque, allowing 0-100 kmph in 6.2 seconds. Its balance of performance and efficiency makes it suitable for both city commutes and highway driving.
The M340i '50 Jahre' Edition is the performance highlight, equipped with a 3.0-litre straight-six engine developing 369 BHP and 500 Nm of torque. It sprints from 0-100 kmph in 4.4 seconds, putting it among the fastest sedans in its class. It also benefits from BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system, M Sport differential and sport suspension, which together deliver both agility and stability.
On the technology front, both editions feature the BMW Curved Display setup, combining a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon system, wireless charging, ambient lighting and a 360-degree camera with parking assistance round out the package. These features ensure that while the cars honour heritage, they remain future-ready in terms of safety, connectivity and convenience.
Since its debut in 1975, the 3 Series has been central to BMW’s global success, blending driving pleasure with everyday usability. The '50 Jahre' editions pay tribute to this legacy while giving enthusiasts something rare and desirable. The limited production run ensures these cars will hold their appeal not just as daily drivers but also as long-term collector items.
BMW has added thoughtful touches like a 1:18 scale model of the classic BMW 3.0 CSL with the M340i variant, enhancing emotional and collector value. Available exclusively through BMW’s online shop, the editions create urgency for genuine buyers. With BMW’s strong customer base and the 3 Series’ status as a brand-defining model, we expect these units to sell out quickly.
