BYD Sealion 6 Hybrid SUV Unveiled In India
The Chinese automotive giant BYD – Build Your Dreams has showcased its newest model for the Indian automotive market, the BYD Sealion 6. This is the brand’s first plug-in hybrid vehicle in India, and it will be priced around Rs 30 lakh. It looks very premium from the outside as well as the inside, and like all BYD models, it comes loaded with features.

Design
The BYD Sealion 6 boasts a very modern and futuristic design. At the front, this SUV gets a set of sleek LED headlights and an aggressive front bumper. It gets horizontal slats and a silver skid plate at the bottom. It also uses a generous amount of chrome, which adds to the premium appeal of this SUV.
Moving on to the side profile, the BYD Sealion 6 gets a set of 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. It also gets chrome window surrounds, roof rails, and matte black body cladding. It gets traditional pull-type door handles, and its overall silhouette is very sleek and stylish.
As for the rear end, this plug-in hybrid SUV gets a set of connected LED taillights, which look very premium. It also gets a black trim under the tailgate, and the lower portion of its bumper gets a similar skid plate as the front end. Other details of the BYD Sealion 6 include a roof-mounted spoiler and a shark fin antenna.
Interior design
Stepping into the interior of the BYD Sealion 6, one is greeted with a very upscale cabin. The main highlight of this SUV’s interior is its rotating 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It can be used in both portrait and landscape orientations. It also supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Apart from this, it also gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument gauge cluster, which provides all the essential details. BYD also offers this SUV with a 10-speaker Infinity audio system and a digital key. Other key features of this SUV are keyless entry and start, ventilated and heated front seats, dual wireless phone chargers, and a panoramic sunroof.
In terms of safety, the BYD Sealion 6 is offered with 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera, ISOFIX child seat anchors, ADAS Level 2, including a collision mitigation system, adaptive cruise control, and others.
Powertrain
Internationally, the BYD Sealion 6 is offered in two variants. The first is the Dynamic variant, which gets a 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid engine. This motor is capable of producing 217.5 PS and comes in a front-wheel-drive configuration. Then there is the premium version, which comes with a 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid turbo petrol engine. This engine produces 323.5 PS and comes with an all-wheel-drive configuration.
As for the BYD Sealion 6 offered in India, it will come with the more powerful 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid turbo petrol engine. According to BYD, its claimed range is 970 km. Also, as this variant will come equipped with an AWD system, it can be used for light off-roading as well.
BYD at the moment has not revealed the pricing of the Sealion 6 in India. However, it is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 30 lakh. In this price bracket, it will be taking on the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, Harrier, and the Hyundai Tucson, along with others.
