Just two days have passed since the launch of the Tata Curvv ICE and EV but a direct competitor has already entered the market. Citroen India has finally launched their Curvv rivaling SUV Coupe in the Indian market – The Citroen Basalt. The TVC of the car was uploaded on the brand’s official YouTube channel, Citroen India.

The 100 second TVC starts with a beautiful drone shot of a sea shore with glimpses of the car in between. The entire TVC is made in a rainy weather and shows multiple scenes of nature. First of all, DRLs of the Basalt are highlighted which are similar to other Citroen cars in India.

Some other shots of car being driven in a rainy dark environment and in a studio with red lighting are added to make the TVC more interesting. Both the headlights and taillights of the car are shown along with the front grille which is the same as other models offered by the brand. Similar to the Tata Curvv, the Basalt gets a sloping roofline design combined with a high ground clearance.

After the initial shots, the SUV Coupe is fully revealed and its various features such as LED projector headlamps, 470 Liter boot space, spacious cabin, 10.25 inch infotainment system with wireless connectivity, and many more are highlighted. Various cinematic shots of the SUV Coupe driving through a hilly area are also shown to showcase the design of the car.

“Striking design, advanced comfort, and a dynamic stance, that’s what makes this SUV coupé ‘The Unthinkable!” the brand commented. Citroen India has priced that Basalt SUV Coupe very competitively. With an introductory starting price of just Rs. 7.99 lakh, the Basalt is the most affordable SUV Coupe in the Indian automotive market. The pricing of its direct rival, the ICE variants of the Tata Curvv is yet to be revealed.

Potential customers can book the Basalt by paying a sum of just Rs. 11,000 at their nearest dealership or online. As for the dimensions, the Citroen Basalt has a length of 4352 mm, width of 1765 mm, height of 1593 mm and a wheelbase of 2651 mm while the Curvv has a length of 4310 mm, width of 1810 mm, height of 1630 mm and a wheelbase of 2560 mm.

The Basalt is being offered with two engine options: a 1.2 litre three cylinder NA block that produces 82 PS of power & 115 Nm of torque and a 1.2 liter-3 cylinder Puretech turbo petrol engine that puts out 110 PS of power and 205 Nm of torque. The naturally aspirated petrol engine comes with a 5 speed manual only while the turbo petrol engine can be specified with either a 6 speed manual or a torque converted automatic.

Safety is another point which is highlighted in the TVC. The Basalt comes with multiple standard safety features such as 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Control, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Engine Stop/Start technology, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.

Pricing of other variants of the Citroen Basalt will be announced in the weeks to come. From the looks of it, Citroen could price it quite competitively as the base model starts at such at attractive price tag.
