It looks like car manufacturers have fallen in love with the coupe SUV design. Tata is all set to launch the Curvv, and similarly, Citroen will also be launching their new Basalt SUV in the market next month. Mahindra also has a range of electric vehicles that feature a similar coupe design. Before the official launch, the Citroen Basalt has been spotted on the road completely undisguised. A video of the upcoming SUV has been circulating online.

The video was posted by a Reddit user. In this video, we see a Citroen Basalt SUV in red on the road. The SUV was unveiled earlier this year. After the official unveil earlier this year, Citroen has decided to launch the upcoming SUV on August 2. This is not the first time we have spotted a Basalt on the road like this, but this one looks slightly different.

The SUV seen in the video has alloy wheels, indicating that it is the higher variant. The side profile of the car is clearly visible in the video. We see the sloping roof at the rear, which gives it the coupe-like look. The thick black cladding around the wheel arches and the lower part of the car gives the SUV a muscular appearance.

The front design of the Basalt is similar to other models from the brand. It features the classic Chevron logo at the front, which extends to meet the LED DRLs. The lower LED DRL meets the headlamp, and then there is a split air dam. The fog lamps are placed on the left and right sides of the air dam.

To achieve an SUV-like look, the car has a silver-colored faux skid plate and a muscular bumper. As we move to the rear, we see the Basalt badge and Citroën branding on the tailgate. The sloping roof meets the rear windscreen, which connects to the tailgate with a muscular design. This portion is, in fact, designed like a lip spoiler. The Basalt’s tail light design is also similar to other models in the market.

The interior of the Basalt is expected to carry a similar design to other cars from the family, which we feel is somewhat disappointing. The SUV will come with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and a multi-function steering wheel.

It remains to be seen if Citroën will offer features like automatic climate control, cruise control, push start button, and electric ORVMs with the upcoming Basalt. The Citroën Basalt will be offered with a petrol engine option only. It will be powered by a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that is already used in the C3 Aircross.

The Basalt is expected to be offered with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission, which was recently introduced with the C3 Aircross.

Citroen is expected to offer a variety of customization options from the factory. The SUV will compete with the likes of the Tata Curvv, which will be launched on August 7. Hopefully, Citroen will price the Basalt competitively, unlike the C3, eC3, and C3 Aircross.
