Citroen Basalt Teased Ahead Of August Launch: Fresh Video Shows Brazil-Spec Model On The Road
The French automaker Citroen is gearing up for the launch of its all-new Basalt Coupe SUV in India. So far, it has been confirmed that it will be officially unveiled on August 2. Some reports have also claimed that it will be launched on August 7, the same date as its main rival, the Tata Curvv Coupe SUV. Now, prior to this official launch, the company has started releasing different teasers of this SUV. There is also a video that shows the Brazil-spec model on the road as well.
Citroen Basalt Teasers
These teasers of the new Citroen Basalt have been shared on Instagram by the official Citroen India channel. The first teaser shows the exterior design highlights of the new Citroen Basalt. It can be noted that the front fascia will be based on the C3 Aircross mid-size SUV. However, there will be certain differentiating design elements.
It will still continue to get the same signature grille that emerges from the Citroen logo in the centre. The SUV will also come equipped with a set of projector LED headlights and LED DRLs similar to the ones seen on the C3 Aircross. Apart from this, the differences will be noticed on the lower front bumper. It will get a new design and will boast red accents to highlight its sporty character.
On the side profile, it will get old-school flap-style door handles and diamond-cut alloy wheels. However, the main highlight will be its rear end design. It will get a sloping roofline which will give it a coupe-like shape and will also get wraparound LED taillights. There will also be a slightly aggressive rear bumper as well.
Interior
Apart from the teaser showing the exterior highlights, the company has also shown the interior of the Basalt. In this teaser, we can note the coupe SUV from the brand will get a slightly more premium interior than its siblings. It will get leatherette upholstery, a centre armrest, and more comfortable-looking headrests.
Technology and Features
In addition to the interior teaser, the company has also released a new teaser that shows the car’s dashboard layout. It can be noted that it will be very similar to the one that we have seen on the C3 Aircross. However, this time it will be getting slightly more premium features.
We can note that it will come equipped with a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It will also get a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, and wireless charging.
Citroen Basalt Powertrain
Coming to the powertrain side of things, the coupe SUV from Citroen will most likely come powered by a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. This engine could generate 109 bhp and 205 Nm of torque. Transmission options could include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

Recently, a video of a Citroen Basalt being tested completely undisguised in Brazil has also been shared on the internet. It can be noted that from these real-life pictures from the road, it looks more like a sedan that has been raised rather than a full-fledged SUV Coupe. Now, whether the one that gets launched in India looks like this is not confirmed yet.
