Citroën India has confirmed that it will fully pass on the benefits of the GST 2.0 reforms to customers across all models from September 22, 2025. The move results in price cuts ranging from around ₹50,000 on the Aircross SUV to nearly ₹2.7 lakh on the premium C5 Aircross.

The C3 hatchback sees the sharpest drops at the entry level, with prices down by up to ₹84,000. The C3 range now starts at ₹4.80 lakh, making it one of the most affordable models in its segment.

The recently launched Basalt and Basalt X, equipped with the brand’s CARA in-car assistant, now start at ₹7.95 lakh. This cut positions them more competitively against mainstream rivals while strengthening Citroën’s growing midsize lineup.

For buyers looking at larger family cars, the 5- and 7-seater Aircross SUVs receive reductions of up to ₹50,000. At the premium end, the C5 Aircross Shine variant benefits the most with savings of nearly ₹2.7 lakh, bringing its ex-showroom price down to ₹37.32 lakh.

Festive Season Timing

The price changes come into effect just as India enters its busiest car-buying period, with festivals such as Onam, Navratri, Eid, and Diwali all around the corner. This timing mirrors the approach taken by other automakers, with Citroën positioning itself to capture demand at a time when buyers typically finalise new purchases.

Bookings at the new prices have already opened, giving prospective customers the chance to secure models at lower prices ahead of delivery dates after September 22. The cuts are expected to boost showroom activity across Citroën’s network, which has been steadily expanding in India.

Competitive Edge in Key Segments

The GST-linked reductions address one of Citroën’s biggest challenges in India: competitive positioning against established brands with stronger dealer networks and wider recognition.

At the entry level, the C3 becomes more attractive with buyers comparing them with hatchbacks and compact sedans from Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Tata Motors. The reduced pricing helps offset the brand’s relatively smaller footprint by giving customers more features at a lower entry cost.

In the midsize SUV space, the Basalt and AirCross range now looks better placed against vehicles like the Tata Curvv, Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta. Starting under ₹8 lakh, it delivers a more competitive proposition for buyers looking for distinctive styling and equipment in the segment.

At the premium end, the significant cut on the C5 Aircross could help Citroën stand out in a market where luxury SUV buyers often weigh value-for-money closely against brand image. By lowering prices substantially, Citroën may appeal to customers seeking a large, well-equipped SUV without stretching to higher-priced German rivals.

What It Means for Buyers

For buyers, the changes mean a clearer value proposition across Citroën’s small, midsize, and premium vehicles. The GST 2.0 reforms removed complex compensation cess structures, simplifying taxation into more transparent slabs. Citroën’s decision to pass on the full benefit ensures customers see direct reductions without partial adjustments.

With price-sensitive buyers expected to drive much of the festive season demand, the lower entry points for the C3 could help Citroën attract first-time customers. The cuts on Basalt and Aircross models position them more firmly within competitive price brackets, while the large reduction on the C5 Aircross broadens its appeal in the premium SUV space.
