This Heavily-Modified Mahindra Thar ROXX Is Eye-Candy! [Video]

The Mahindra Thar ROXX (the 5-door Thar) has been around for some time now. The SUV became an instant hit and a lot of people are adding it to their garages. We have, over time, seen many tasteful builds and customisations based on it as well. In a recent video shared on YouTube, we get to see a tastefully built Thar ROXX- realised by Poona Motors Pvt Ltd, for a client from Goa.
The host, a representative of Poona Motors, says that the brief for his team from the client was ‘to build the best modification of all time’. The garage has thus changed every nook and corner of this ROXX, improving them visually and functionally. The vehicle now gets a new Proman front metal bumper. It, however, doesn’t compromise on ADAS features or their efficiencies, as the host says that these are perfectly functional.
The design of this bumper adds a different flavour to the ROXX, making it look more butch and imposing. It definitely looks better than the original SUV’s plastic bumper, and comes with an integrated skid plate as well. The front bumper is fitted with projector fog lamps and Hella off-roading lamps. There are integrated tow hooks as well.
This ROXX also gets a new bonnet scoop. It isn’t an add-on component. Instead, it is a single-piece unit, as said in the video. The new hood gets two faux air intakes which have been painted Black, for added visual appeal. The vehicle also gets Defende-styled roof lights which also offer a flash blinking function.
This SUV is fitted with massive 20-inch wheels and thick off-road tyres. The fenders now get additional flares with visible rivets. The garage has also specced the SUV with the latest Proman door hinges- for both front and rear doors. All these components seem to have great quality and the fitment is neat as well.
The vehicle also gets Proman metal side steps. It has also been fitted with a Defender-styled side ladder and a side box. These neatly conceal the ‘controversial C pillar’. The rear bumper is also by Proman and gets a complete metal design and a tow hook. The spare tyre holder is also sourced from Proman. This ROXX also gets a rear spoiler with integrated lamps inside. The tail lamps have Wrangler-like designs and are LED units with a slightly smoked finish.
The interior of this ROXX has been reworked (and improved) completely. The seats now get super-comfortable upholstery and premium patterns and stitching. The front seats get added thigh support and cushioning. The cabin colourway on the stock SUV is ivory/ White. This has been converted into a more premium Walnut shade. Several components on the inside now get Piano Black finishes as well. The roof liner now comes finished in Black.
The steering wheel has been painted in the same Black-Walnut colourway- and looks quite good. For better insulation and improved audio experience, the entire cabin has been reinforced with improved damping. The air-con vents have been replaced with Mercedes-styled units, and a complete ambient lighting kit as well. You can see tasteful use of ambient lighting at places like the door pads, dashboard, air-con vents and more.
The video doesn’t talk about any modifications being done on the mechanical front. It could thus be safe to assume that this vehicle remains stock under its skin. The ROXX comes with two engine options- 2.2L mHawk diesel and 2.0L turbocharged petrol engines being offered with the choice of manual and automatic transmissions.
