DC2 TANQ Electric SUV Launch Ready: Details Revealed

After a brief hiatus, Dilip Chhabria’s DC designs has made a strong comeback at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. It is now called the DC2 and showcased a radical electric SUV concept called the e-TANQ. The electric off-roader gained immense visitor interest. This vehicle is designed to blend cutting-edge technology with rugged capability. It comes with India’s biggest battery pack and an electric motor setup that makes 650 Bhp.
The automotive customisation brand has given the TANQ a massive 180 kWh battery pack. This is larger than the battery packs on any made-in-India EVs, and those on most EVs sold here. The second biggest battery in the Indian market sits on the Maybach EQS 680 SUV- 122 KWh.
The GM Hummer EV has one of the biggest battery packs among electric vehicles. It comes with a 200+ kWh battery. Before the Auto Expo unveil, DC2 released a number of teaser images, some of which said something like ‘The Humvee just got sportier’. The reference here sounds logical considering the motor output and battery capacity of the e-TANQ off-roader. It has been co-developed by DC and Mercury EV-Tech Ltd- an electric vehicle company that has invested heavily in DC.
The e-TANQ has been developed completely in-house. We are told that the platform too is an in-house creation. The wheels seem to be stretched out to the corners. This could indicate at the possibility of this being a born-electric platform. We are, however, not very sure about this. The folks at DC refused to reveal further details of the platform.
The vehicle gets a dual-motor layout- one on each axle. The combined output is around 650 Bhp. This will give it an insane acceleration and remarkable top speed.
The electric SUV has massive wheels and wide tyres. The Black and Red dual-tone design looks bizarrely fresh. The front gets a butch design with a massive blocked-off grille and sleek LED headlamps. Even the rear is as imposing as the front.
Key design highlights include sleek, connected tail lamps, a good-looking roofline, a bold rear diffuser, and cameras that function as side-view mirrors. The vehicle gets a two-door design. The interior also gets a handsome-yet-custom design.
DC2 plans to take the TANQ EV to production sometime in 2026. Reports say that the production version could have a price of around Rs 50 lakh. Going by the visitor interests, the production version could likely have some takers.
Another major display at the pavilion was the Europa. This is a one-of-a-kind luxury mobile showroom, created exclusively for Goldmedal Electricals, a leader in the industry. The mobile showroom costs around 18 crores, and showcases excellent craftsmanship. There are dedicated areas to showcase Goldmedal products, a comfortable, luxurious customer lounge and more.
The vehicle gets an articulating design that allows it to stretch up to 10 ft outwards. Special hydraulics are used for this. The Europa is huge in dimensions. Gold Medal plans to have more such mobile showrooms out soon.
DC had previously gone into trouble after the company was found to have committed financial fraud. More recently, however, it has managed to bag significant investments and is working on regaining its lost reputation. The DC Avanti might be no more. But with Mercury to back them up, the TANQ could stand a fair chance.
The DC spokesperson said in a statement: “Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 has been an opportunity to reconnect with automotive enthusiasts and showcase our vision for the future of mobility. The Expo offered the perfect stage to present our innovations to a passionate audience, and we are thrilled to have been a part of it.”
“Our collaboration with Mercury EV-Tech has been an incredible journey. Together, we’ve created a vehicle that combines the boldness of a rugged off-roader with cutting-edge electric technology, making a strong statement about our commitment to sustainability and innovation. This is just the beginning of a new chapter for DC2.” “ He further added.
