Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6 Cross 3,000 Deliveries

Mahindra’s foray into premium electric SUVs is off to a strong start. Since their launch in March 2025, the XEV 9e and BE 6 have collectively crossed the 3,000-unit delivery mark across India. This milestone not only reflects a growing appetite for electric mobility in the country but also signals Mahindra’s success in balancing futuristic design, real-world usability, and homegrown innovation.
Let’s explore what’s fuelling this early success—and what it means for the future of EVs in India.
Although built on the same INGLO electric platform, the XEV 9e and BE 6 appeal to different types of buyers.
The XEV 9e is designed for families who value space, comfort, and tech-laden luxury. Its triple-screen dashboard, panoramic sunroof, and reclining rear seats make it feel more like a living room on wheels.
The BE 6, on the other hand, targets driving enthusiasts with its coupe-inspired styling and sportier dynamics. It features a fighter jet-inspired cockpit, dual 12.3-inch screens, and a stiffer suspension setup tuned for agility.
While both SUVs are performance-oriented—with 0–100 km/h times of under 7 seconds—they have been tailored to offer distinct experiences behind the wheel.
A look at early trends reveals a clear tilt towards premium variants. Nearly 70% of buyers are opting for the top-spec ‘Pack Three’ trim. The appeal? Features like a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, a heads-up display with augmented reality, and Level 2+ advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Demand has been strong across metros, especially in Maharashtra and Karnataka, where waiting periods have stretched up to six months. To keep pace, Mahindra is ramping up production at its Chakan facility, aiming to double monthly output to 1,500 units by June 2025.
Understanding that many customers are transitioning to EVs for the first time, Mahindra has created a set of support tools to ease the shift. Buyers receive curated video guides on topics like home charging setup, optimising range, and using connected features like remote diagnostics and over-the-air updates.
These resources are designed to reduce the learning curve and boost buyer confidence—especially for those stepping away from petrol or diesel vehicles for the first time.
Both the XEV 9e and BE 6 are powered by 79 kWh LFP battery packs, offering over 500 km of real-world range even with the air-conditioning on. Fast charging is another highlight—with 175 kW DC chargers, both SUVs can go from 20% to 80% charge in just 20 minutes.
Multiple drive modes—Range, Everyday, and Race—allow drivers to tweak the suspension, steering, and throttle response depending on the mood or situation.
A powerful 5nm Qualcomm Snapdragon chip sits at the heart of Mahindra’s software-defined vehicle architecture, enabling 5G connectivity, voice controls, Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) support, and seamless software updates.
Mahindra isn’t resting on its early success. Apart from ramping up production, the company is also expanding its EV-specific service network. Specially trained technicians are being deployed to handle the high-voltage systems and digital architecture unique to these vehicles.
The pricing, which starts at ₹18.9 lakh (ex-showroom), combined with segment-first warranties like lifetime battery cover for first owners, makes the value proposition even more compelling for Indian buyers eyeing a premium EV.
The success of the XEV 9e and BE 6 points to a larger trend—Indian buyers are no longer looking at EVs as just fuel-savers. They now expect performance, comfort, connected features, and a solid brand experience.
As charging infrastructure continues to improve and awareness spreads, Mahindra’s early bet on premium electric SUVs may well pay off in the long run. And with rivals watching closely, the race for India’s EV future has truly begun.
