Two Multi-Crore Mercedes-Benz AMG Cars Crash Into Each Other After Test Drive Goes Wrong [Video]

People often take cars they are interested in for a test drive. This is usually done to get to know the car better. People either come back impressed, disappointed, or with mixed feelings about the car. However, not all test drives end like this. There have been incidents where people taking a test drive crashed the demo car. Here, we have one such incident from Kochi, where not one but two Mercedes AMG cars were damaged in a head-on collision.
The incident is said to have happened during a test drive in Kochi, on the road in front of the Kendriya Vidyalaya ground on Willingdon Island Road. A Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 63 SE and a Mercedes-Benz AMG SL55 Roadster, both worth crores, were involved. This is probably one of the most expensive crashes in Kerala in recent times.
According to reports available online, the GT 63 SE was being driven by a customer who was participating in the experience drive organised by the dealership in Kochi. The car lost control after hitting an uneven section of an old railway track on the roadside.
After losing control, the GT 63 SE hit a car passing through the road and then had a head-on collision with the SL 55 Roadster. The person driving the GT 63 SE escaped the accident with minor injuries and it was him who took the driver of the SL55 and the woman passenger on the rear seat of the GT to the hospital.
The SL55 Roadster, driven by another customer, was unfortunately coming from the opposite direction. The front of the GT 63 SE was completely damaged. In the video, we see the right side fender, headlamps, grille, bonnet, and the front wheels of the car damaged.
The SL55, on the other hand, had a damaged front bumper, headlamps, right-side front wheels, driver-side door, convertible roof, and windshield. The airbags in both vehicles deployed on time.
One of the police officers at Harbour Police Station said, “We arrived at the scene after being informed about the incident and moved the damaged cars to the police station. A case has been registered regarding the incident.”
The GT 63 AMG was finished in a beautiful shade of Manufaktur Copper Orange Magno, while the SL 55 was in Hyper Blue. The GT 63 AMG is powered by a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 petrol engine that generates 630 Bhp and 900 Nm of peak torque.
It is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission, and the power is sent to all four wheels. The SL 55 is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo petrol engine. This convertible sports car generates 469 Bhp and 700 Nm of peak torque.
The engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission, and the power is sent to all four wheels. The price for a brand new Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 63 SE is Rs 3.30 crore, ex-showroom.
The price of an SL 55 Roadster is Rs 2.44 crore, ex-showroom. From the reports and visuals available online, it seems the reason for this crash was overspeeding.
The driver was probably not aware of the power this car is capable of generating and may not have had the expertise to regain control, leading to the crash. Always be careful while taking such cars for test drives, and if you really want to push a car to its limits, look for closed and straight roads so that you don’t put the lives of other road users at risk in case of an accident.
