5 New Mahindras Launching Soon!

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) isn't slowing down. In fact, they’re all set to expand their Indian line-up further in the coming months. A slew of new launches are to be expected, including all-new SUVs, electric SUVs, and even facelifts of existing models. The Indian carmaker recently revealed the new-age NU_IQ monocoque platform for use in future models. It even showcased four design studies which are expected to translate to new models in the upcoming years. Here are five new Mahindras that are set to launch in India in the time ahead.
The current-gen Thar made its market debut in 2020. The three-door Thar rose to instant acceptance and continues to sell well even today. It is now due for an update. We expect Mahindra to launch the facelift later this year. This will be the first major update for the 3-door Thar. It will pack both styling changes and feature additions. Key mechanical areas like the rear suspension will also be reworked.
Test mule sightings suggest that the new SUV will have ROXX-like ‘Six Pack’ grille, tweaked headlamps with integrated DRLs, new bumpers, and minor sheet metal updates. The overall aesthetics are set to improve. The cabin will have significant improvements. The updated SUV will get a large 10.25-inch central infotainment touchscreen, a new steering wheel, and several other features.
The powertrains aren’t likely to be updated. The facelift will continue with the current model’s petrol and diesel engines. The rear suspension setup, however, will be reworked. The facelift will also feature advanced tech like Frequency Selective Damping (FSD). The ride quality and handling will see major improvements.
As part of its aggressive EV expansion plans, Mahindra is working on an all-electric version of the XUV 3XO SUV. It will likely replace the XUV 400 electric SUV when launched. Details around the upcoming EV are sparse at the time of writing this article. Test mule sightings however, have confirmed that the project is still active.
We expect the production form to come with two battery packs- 34.5 kWh and 39.5 kWh- same as those offered by the XUV 400. The design at large, is likely to remain close to that of the 3XO. There will, of course, be EV-specific Copper trims and other unique cues.
Another ‘battery electric vehicle’ (BEV) expected from Mahindra’s stable is the XEV 7e. It will be the EV version of the outgoing XUV 700 SUV, and will share a lot of its design cues, cabin and features with the outgoing XEV 9e coupe.
It will be based on the INGLO platform and will feature the same battery packs as the BE6 and XEV 9e- 59 kWh and 79 kWh BYD-sourced units. Mahindra is rumoured to give it AWD tech as well, as the vehicle will have to battle the Harrier.EV when it finally goes on sale here.
The XUV 700 has been a huge success in India. It is loved for its tech-packed cabin, smart styling, and commendable performance and handling. It debuted in 2021 and is now due for an update. The facelift will brings styling changes and add more equipment to the SUV.
We expect the new XUV 700 to get a reworked front grille, refreshed bumpers, tweaked LED headlamps, and fresh alloy wheels. Inside, it will borrow heavily from the 9e, and come with features like the triple-screen setup, Mahindra’s new-age two-spoke steering wheel, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos.
Most of the features of the current model will be carried over. The carmaker is unlikely to make any changes to the engine and transmission options though.
The Bolero has been a long-standing nameplate for Mahindra in India. Mahindra is now working on introducing a major generational update of the SUV. It will be based on the NU_IQ platform that debuted recently. It will thus have a wheelbase of 2665 mm and come with a five-link rear suspension and Davincing dampers.
On the design front, the new Bolero will borrow heavily from the Vision S concept showcased at the Freedom_NU event. We will get to learn more about this SUV in the coming months.
