However, what is confirmed is that it will be launched on November 26th at the Mahindra Scream Electric event in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
This model will be launched for the celebration of the 1-year anniversary of Mahindra Electric Origin SUVs in India. It is expected to get a Formula E-inspired livery, exclusive badges, and interior highlights matching the motorsport theme. Its teaser showed that it will be getting circular LED projector headlights, a sculpted bonnet, eyebrow-style LED DRLs, and a rear spoiler.
Powertrain options will be the same as the standard BE 6 - a 282 bhp and 380 Nm of torque electric motor with a 79 kWh battery pack, and a 228 bhp and 380 Nm of torque-producing motor with the 59 kWh battery pack. The range on the former will be 557 km and 683 km on the latter. Pricing will be around Rs 29 lakh.
Next up, at the same Mahindra Scream Electric event on November 27th, the XEV 9S electric SUV will also be launched. It will be Mahindra's first seven-seater electric SUV. In terms of design, on the front it will be getting a closed-off front end, LED DRL, and triangular LED headlights. As for the rear side profile and rear, it will get the same silhouette as the Mahindra XUV700.
On the inside, the XEV 9S will share the same interior as the XEV 9E. It will be getting the same triple-screen layout, panoramic glass roof, ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, 2-spoke steering wheel, and Harman Kardon audio. Powertrain options will remain the same as the XEV 9E. Pricing will be in the range of Rs 21 lakh to Rs 30 lakh.
Maruti Suzuki will be launching its first-ever electric SUV, the e Vitara, on December 2nd. It will be built at the Hansalpur, Gujarat, facility of Maruti Suzuki. So far, the launch of the e Vitara has been delayed for a long time because of battery supply issues and software challenges.
It has been reported that, initially, India will be getting a 61 kWh battery pack offering a range of around 500+ km on a single full charge. In the international markets, the e Vitara has been launched with a 49 kWh battery pack - 144 bhp and 192.5 Nm of torque. The 61 kWh battery pack will make 174 bhp and a dual motor setup with 184 bhp.
The country's top electric automaker, Tata Motors, is also gearing up for the launch of the Sierra EV in India. The ICE version will be launched on 25th November, and the EV version is expected to be launched in early January next year. The exact date, at the moment, has not been reported.
In terms of design, it will boast the same design as the ICE model. However, there will be EV-specific design cues such as a closed-off grille, unique aero-efficient alloy wheels, and EV badges all around. On the inside as well, it is similar to the ICE model. Overall, it will be a premium and uncluttered cabin which will feel very airy.
As for the powertrain, it is expected to get the same 65 and 75 kWh battery packs as the Harrier.ev. It will be a front-wheel-drive SUV, but there is a possibility that higher variants might get an AWD system as well. Pricing will be around Rs 20 to Rs 25 lakh.
