Volkswagen's 4 BIG Upcoming Launches

The competition in the Indian automotive market is increasing at an extremely rapid pace. As a result of this, the German automotive giant Volkswagen, which currently only has two popular products—the Virtus and Taigun—is struggling a bit. Now, in order to make sure that it can get more sales, it is gearing up for the launch of a few new models in India. Today, we have the list of the four new Volkswagen cars that will be launched in India in the coming period.
First off on the launch roster of Volkswagen is the Golf GTI hot hatch. This particular hatchback has been in demand from enthusiasts for a while now, and finally, the company is bringing it to India. The 2025 Golf GTI will be brought as a CBU (Completely Built Unit), and only 250 units will be making their way to our market. Pricing is expected to be in the range of Rs 45–50 lakh, which is mind-boggling for a hatchback.
The new 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI will come with connected LED headlights, hexagonal fog lamps, 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, red inserts, red brake calipers, and a dark-themed interior. It will also get a 12.9-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital instrument gauge cluster, and other features. Powering the Golf GTI will be a 2.0-litre EA888 turbo petrol motor making 265 bhp and 370 Nm of torque.
Volkswagen, a little while ago, launched the Tera sub-compact SUV in Brazil, and it was expected that the same would be launched in India. However, it has now been reported that the company will not be bringing the Tera to India. Instead, the company is working on the development of a brand-new India-specific sub-compact SUV based on the Skoda Kylaq, which utilizes the MQB A0 IN platform.
Most likely, the Volkswagen sub-compact SUV will boast the same 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine capable of making 118 bhp and 178 Nm of torque. There could also be the offering of the 1.5-litre TSI EVO petrol engine, which makes 150 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. This bigger engine could be offered under the GT badge. As for the pricing, it will start under Rs 8 lakh and go up to Rs 15 lakh.
The Taigun mid-size SUV has been on sale for a while now and has received a few minor updates. However, the company is yet to give the Taigun a significant update. It has been reported that the facelift for the Taigun will be launched in 2026. As for the changes, it will be getting brand-new front and rear bumpers, new LED headlights, ADAS Level 2, and a panoramic sunroof. Powertrain options of 1.0-litre petrol and 1.5-litre petrol will remain the same.
Along with the Taigun, the Virtus mid-size sedan will also be getting a new facelift. The new 2026 Virtus facelift will also get new front and rear bumpers, and maybe a different style for the LED headlights and taillights. However, apart from these, the main highlights will be the addition of ADAS Level 2 and a panoramic sunroof. The interior could also see new upholstery and a new color scheme.
As for the powertrain, it will likely remain the same, with the same 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol units. The former produces 115 bhp and 178 Nm of torque, while the latter produces 150 bhp and 250 Nm of torque.
