Mining Scam Accused MLA’s Range Rover, Mahindra Thar And Toyota Fortuner Seized For Jumping Divider
A few days ago, we came across a video of a Range Rover SUV owned by politician Gali Janardhana Reddy being driven across a median. The SUV had crossed to the wrong side of the road due to a traffic block caused by the Karnataka Chief Minister’s convoy passing.
The politician drove the car over the median and crossed to the other side. The video went viral, and now the police have taken action against the politician, seizing three of his vehicles.
Gali Janardhana Reddy is an Indian politician and businessman who has been serving as a Member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly from the Gangawati Assembly constituency. The Gangavati police have registered a case against him for allegedly breaching the security of the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s convoy.
The MLA drove the car on the wrong side of the convoy, compromising the security of the area and causing an accident scare. After the police took action, Mr. Reddy came forward with an explanation.
He stated that he had waited for almost half an hour for the convoy to pass. Reddy said, “Whoever is the Chief Minister or, for that matter, whoever they are, they should not put people in trouble. There was a homam happening in my family in Ballari, and there was urgency to attend the ‘Poornahuti’ (final offering).”
In the viral video, we see Reddy’s older generation Range Rover Vogue being driven across the divider on the road, followed by a Toyota Fortuner and a Mahindra Thar tailing the luxury SUV. All three SUVs have been seized by the local police. We are not sure if the police have taken any further action against the politician or if they have simply seized the cars.
While we understand that such convoy movements often create issues for the general public, driving across the median to breach security is not the right approach. This can cause more problems than one might think. In the video, just as Reddy’s vehicle reached the opposite side of the road, the sound of the escort vehicles can be heard.
The convoy was actually very close to the road where the politician was stuck and that is what made things extremely risky for both. Usually, cars used in the movement of senior leaders and ministers are driven at high speeds by trained drivers. If an obstacle suddenly appears in front of the vehicle, it would make things difficult for the driver, and that obstacle could be the cause of an accident, potentially risking the life of the minister in the car.
To avoid such incidents or accidents, police often block traffic whenever there is a convoy movement. If you have been following the news, you may be familiar with the name G. Janardhana Reddy. His name has been involved in several controversies in the past.
One of the most notable was when Reddy was accused of completely rigging iron ore mining in the Bellary region and defrauding the government. He was even arrested and jailed for many years in connection with that case.
