Honda City Gets A Big Upgrade: New Apex Edition Launched

The Japanese automotive giant Honda Cars India, in order to pump up the sales of its already popular mid-size sedan, the Honda City, has launched a new limited edition model. The Honda City “Apex Edition” has been introduced in India after the success of the Elevate Apex Edition. Like the Elevate, the Honda City’s Apex Edition also comes with a number of cosmetic enhancements. Mechanically, it remains identical to the standard model.
The newly launched Honda City Apex Edition is based on the base V and VX variants of this sedan. Pricing-wise, the standard Honda City V variant with a manual transmission is priced at Rs 13.05 lakh and Rs 14.30 lakh for the CVT gearbox model. However, the Apex Edition V variants are priced at Rs 13.3 lakh and Rs 14.55 lakh (manual and automatic, respectively).
The VX trim Honda City Apex Edition is also Rs 25,000 more than the standard trim. It is priced at Rs 14.37 lakh and Rs 15.62 lakh for manual and CVT transmission options, respectively. It should be noted that the top-spec ZX variant is not available with the Apex Edition package.
In terms of exterior enhancements, the Honda City Apex Edition comes equipped with “Apex Edition” badging on the front fenders and the boot lid. Apart from these, there is no addition of a new body kit with this new edition, and there are also new paint options to choose from.
As for the main highlights, the new Apex Edition City is being offered with an “Apex Edition” branding on the seats. It gets an embossed “Apex Edition” logo on the headrests, and it also gets seat cushions with the same branding. Apart from these, the sedan also comes with a leatherette soft-touch finish on the dashboard, door panels, and center console area.
Lastly, as part of the Apex Edition upgrades, the car also gets multi-color ambient lighting (seven colors). This lighting is available around the digital instrument gauge cluster. Also, customers who are not opting for the Apex Edition can get this as an accessory for Rs 7,500.
Apart from the things mentioned above, the rest of the car remains the same as the standard model. It will continue to come with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a semi-digital instrument gauge cluster, a wireless phone charger, and a single-pane electric sunroof. Safety features also remain the same. The current-generation Honda City comes with six airbags, electronic stability control, and a lane watch camera.
Additionally, it also comes with a tire pressure monitoring system and camera-based ADAS, which includes features like collision mitigation braking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, high beam assist, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and forward collision warnings.
Coming to the powertrain side of things, Honda has not tweaked the engine or transmission of the City “Apex Edition.” This new edition also gets the same 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine. It is capable of producing 121 PS and 145 Nm of torque. As for transmission options, it gets the same 6-speed manual or CVT gearbox.
Commenting on the launch of the new Honda City Apex Edition, Kunal Behl, Vice President of Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd., said, “Honda City has been an extremely successful brand in India, enjoying an aspirational status among customers. It has consistently been a strong business pillar for Honda Cars India.”
He added, “With the introduction of the Apex Edition of the Honda City, we aim to offer a more enhanced and premium package to our customers. We are confident that customers will like this new edition, and we look forward to welcoming more customers to the Honda family.”
