Made-In India Honda Elevate (WR-V) Bags 5 Star Rating In Japan NCAP Crash Test

Honda Elevate is currently the only SUV sold by the Japanese car manufacturer in India. The SUV is not only sold in India but is also exported to other countries, including Japan. The Honda Elevate is sold as the WR-V in Japan, and it recently underwent the Japan NCAP crash test and passed it with flying colours. The made-in-India Honda Elevate, or WR-V, achieved a 5-star rating in the crash test.
In the Japan NCAP crash test, the Honda Elevate achieved an overall score of 90 percent (176.23 out of 193.8 points). It should be noted that Honda has not sent the Elevate to Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP for any tests to date.
In the Japan NCAP test, the Elevate received a 95 percent score (82.22 out of 85.8 points) in preventive safety performance, and an 86 percent score (86.01 out of 100 points) in collision safety performance.
The mid-size SUV also scored 57.73 points for occupant protection and 28.28 points for pedestrian protection in the test. Just like in any crash test, the Elevate underwent front and side collision tests as well. In the full frontal collision test, the Honda Elevate managed to score 96 percent for the driver and 88 percent protection for rear passengers.
In the front offset collision test, the SUV received 86.9 percent for the driver and a full 100 percent for the rear passenger. The SUV scored maximum points in the side collision safety test too. In the pedestrian safety or protection test, the Honda Elevate scored 2.91 out of 4 for head protection and a perfect 4 out of 4 for leg protection.
The Honda Elevate is manufactured in Honda’s manufacturing facility in Tapukara, Rajasthan. The SUV is manufactured in India and exported to many foreign markets. This is the first time a Honda vehicle manufactured in India is being exported to Japan.
It is a mid-size SUV that was launched by Honda in the Indian market in 2023. The SUV rivals the likes of Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and many more.
The Honda Elevate gets a typical Honda nose and grille at the front with a very clean exterior design. Unlike most of its competition, Honda offers a very clean yet premium-looking design for the SUV.
While it may not offer too many premium features, there is a decent number of features like an electric sunroof, cruise control, blind spot camera, LED headlamps, six airbags, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, semi-digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, leatherette upholstery, auto headlamps and wipers, and so on.
Honda is also offering ADAS features, which they like to call Honda Sensing. Under this feature, the SUV offers collision mitigation braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beam, and a lane watch camera.
The Elevate is only offered with a petrol engine. It uses a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 119 Bhp and 145 Nm of peak torque. The engine is offered with manual and CVT gearbox options. Honda will be launching an electric version of the Elevate in the future.
