Honda’s Future Lineup: Six New Models Confirmed for India

The Japanese automotive giant Honda has seen significant success with its recent launch, the Elevate SUV, in the Indian market. To continue this momentum, Honda is set to introduce six new models in India over the next few years. This lineup includes a mix of updated versions of popular models and new entries aimed at tapping into the growing demand for SUVs and electric vehicles. Here is a comprehensive look at Honda’s upcoming vehicles, which will be making their way into India in the coming years.
Starting off the series is the next-generation Honda Amaze, scheduled for an early 2025 release. This popular sub-compact sedan will be the only new model Honda plans to introduce in India before 2027. The upcoming Amaze is expected to feature updated design elements, improved interior quality, and new features.
Real-world testing of the new Amaze has already commenced, and spy shots reveal a redesigned rear panel and taillights. The front is expected to undergo significant changes as well, possibly taking design cues from newer global Honda cars.
Inside, the Amaze will offer more features, including six airbags as standard, a larger screen, a fully digital console, and better connectivity options. Once launched, it will compete with the Hyundai Aura and the upcoming new Maruti Dzire.
Although exact powertrain details have not been revealed, it is likely to retain the current model’s 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine will produce 89 bhp and 110 Nm of torque. Additionally, the new Amaze will be available with both a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox.
To bank on the success of the Elevate mid-size SUV, Honda is planning to introduce an electric version of this model. The Elevate EV is part of Honda’s broader strategy to expand its electric vehicle lineup in India. This EV is expected to feature a sizable battery pack, offering a range of approximately 450-500 km on a single charge.
Presently, the exact specifications are yet to be disclosed. However, the Elevate EV will be a significant addition to Honda’s electric range of cars. It will compete with the Maruti Suzuki eVX, Hyundai Creta EV, and the newly launched Tata Curvv EV.
Coming in 2027, Honda will launch a flagship 7-seat SUV built on the new PF2 platform. This three-row SUV will be positioned above the Elevate. It is being designed to cater to family buyers who want a spacious and versatile vehicle. The PF2 platform is versatile, supporting both internal combustion engine (ICE) and hybrid powertrains.
Reports have suggested that this SUV will offer a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine and a robust hybrid option. The design and development of this SUV involve significant input from Honda’s R&D centers in Japan and Thailand, with India being the primary market for this model.
Honda’s flagship sedan, the iconic City, will also undergo a major overhaul with the introduction of its next-generation model in 2028. Also based on the PF2 platform, the sixth-generation City will feature a radical redesign, fresh styling, and a new design language.
The new City will debut with a naturally aspirated petrol engine and a hybrid variant. Production is expected to commence in May 2028. It will continue to compete with the Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus, and Skoda Slavia in India.
In early 2029, Honda plans to introduce a new sub-4 meter compact SUV. This model, also built on the PF2 platform, will target the highly competitive compact SUV segment, which includes the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Hyundai Venue.
Presently, the specific details about the powertrain are not yet available. However, it is anticipated that the SUV will feature Honda’s 1.5-liter petrol engine.
Honda’s future lineup will also include a second electric vehicle, which will come in 2029. This new EV, which is likely an SUV, will be positioned below the Elevate EV. It will also be based on the PF2 platform.
As per reports, unlike the Elevate EV, which is part of the ACE project, this model will be an entirely new addition to Honda’s electric vehicle portfolio. It will compete with models like the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400 in India.
