Summer is already here and we have already started seeing car manufacturers coming up with campaigns and offers for customers. Honda has decided to launch a new version of their mid-size SUV, Elevate, in the market. Honda has launched the Elevate Apex Summer Edition at a starting price of Rs 12.39 lakh, ex-showroom.

The Elevate Apex Summer Edition is based on the V variant (one above the base), and it offers more features than the V variant at a lower price. It was only last month that Honda announced they would be decreasing the price of select Honda Elevate variants. Kunal Behl, VP, Marketing and Sales, said, “We are introducing certain grades of Elevate at attractive new price points along with other benefits in the month of May, ensuring greater value for our customers.”

As mentioned above, the Apex Summer Edition is being offered as a value-for-money product, and it is available with both manual and CVT gearbox options. The CVT version is priced at Rs 13.59 lakh, ex-showroom, while the manual costs Rs 12.39 lakh, ex-showroom. When compared to the regular V variant, the Apex Summer Edition is actually Rs 32,000 cheaper.

The newly introduced Apex Summer Edition will come with features like two-tone white and black interiors with leatherette upholstery and door pads, seat cushions and ambient lights, a large 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 360-degree camera, and so on. The Apex Summer Edition will also get Apex Edition badges along with piano black and chrome elements on the outside.

Apart from the newly introduced edition, every other variant of the Elevate remains the same. The price for the Honda Elevate starts at Rs 11.91 lakh, ex-showroom, for the base SV variant and goes all the way up to Rs 16.73 lakh, ex-showroom, for the top-end ZX Black CVT version.

Honda Elevate is a mid-size SUV that competes with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Tata Curvv, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder in the segment.

Just like most manufacturers, Honda has also discontinued the diesel engine from all their models in India. It is now available with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 119 Bhp and 145 Nm of peak torque. The engine is available with both manual and CVT gearbox options.

The higher variants of the Honda Elevate are equipped with features like a sunroof and Honda Sensing, which is their version of ADAS. Honda launched the Elevate in the market a few years ago and since then, it has not received any major updates. Honda even scored 5 star rating at JNCAP crash test where it is sold as the WR-V

Honda, during the launch, had confirmed that they didn’t have any plans to launch a strong hybrid version of the Elevate like the Honda City in the market. However, they did say that they might evaluate bringing an electric version of the Elevate to the market.

After the launch of the Elevate, Honda did see a slight improvement in sales, but with not much effort from the brand to expand the lineup or improve the existing one. In April this year, Honda dispatched just 4,871 units (including exports) compared to the 10,867 units sold in the same month last year. This is actually a sharp 55.18 percent decline when compared to last year.
