Hyundai Alcazar SUV Facelift: Video Teaser With Shahrukh Khan Out
Hyundai is gearing up to launch the facelifted Alcazar SUV in India this September. This will be the company’s biggest launch before the highly anticipated Creta EV , slated for an early 2025 release. The updated Alcazar is expected to bring refreshed styling and more features to the moniker. There will be four variants on offer: Executive, Prestige, Platinum and Signature.
Throwing more light into what’s coming, Hyundai India has released a new video teaser that shows key aspects of the upcoming SUV. The film has Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan star alongside the new Alcazar. SRK has been the face of Hyundai in India for long.
The new Alcazar can be seen flaunting its neat lines and good-looking panels, in the video. Design highlights to take note of include full-width LED light bars up front and at the rear, signature ‘H’-shaped DRLs, all-LED lighting, animated blinkers, new dual-tone 8-spoke alloy wheels, Silver coloured skid plates, body-coloured door handles, roof rails etc.
The tail lamp design seems to be interesting. It will make you draw visual connections with the ones seen on the outgoing Creta and the Venue. It is a tasteful mix of both these designs and looks brilliant in the video.
The Alcazar facelift will have both 6 and 7-seater versions to it. It is expected to offer a better cabin experience than its predecessor. Though we do not have any visuals on it yet, the dashboard could have a heavily reworked design. It is said to remind you of the new Creta’s dashboard in the way it looks. Expect more interior design details to surface in the coming weeks.
As suggested by the teaser film, the new Alcazar could offer a lot of modern-day features and tech. It will have a smartphone-based lock/unlock function (which SRK can be seen using in the teaser), a panoramic sunroof, a new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, selectable drive and traction modes, and level 2 ADAS.
Though not seen anywhere in the teaser, things like wireless charger, dual-zone automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, and an 8-speaker Bose audio are also to be expected.
2024 Hyundai Alcazar Facelift: Expected Powertrains
The Alcazar facelift will retain the same engine options as the current model. The fun-to-drive petrol variants will have Hyundai’s new 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that delivers 160 PS and 253 Nm. This will be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch (DCT) automatic gearbox.
The diesel variant will have a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces 115 PS and 250 Nm. The diesel engine will be available with 6MT and 6AT gearboxes.
The automaker recently started taking bookings for the facelifted Alcazar. You can reserve yours for a token amount of Rs 25,000 online and through various Hyundai dealerships.
Safer Than Before!
In terms of safety, Hyundai plans to equip the facelifted Alcazar with an impressive suite of 40 standard safety features and over 70 features in total. Key safety gear includes six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, and a 360-degree camera. The higher variants will also have advanced driver assistance (ADAS) features similar to those in the new Creta. Expect to see adaptive cruise control, front collision warning, and autonomous emergency braking.
Launch Date
Pitched as their festive season trump card, Hyundai will launch the facelifted Alcazar in India on September 9, 2024. The current model is priced between Rs 16.78 lakh and Rs 21.28 lakh (ex-showroom). Given the slew of updates and enhancements expected on the facelift, it could be priced at a slight premium. We expect the prices to start around 17 lakh, ex-showroom.
