Internally codenamed as the Bc4i, Hyundai’s upcoming crossover is set to compete in the highly competitive Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh price bracket. This segment in the Indian market currently has cars, including popular models like the Maruti Suzuki Fronx and Toyota Taisor, along with a ton of sub-compact SUVs.

Design and Platform

Starting off with the design of the upcoming crossover from Hyundai, the Bayon will be built on the new-gen i20 platform. It will boast a unique rear-end design which will make it look like an SUV but with the overall dimensions of a hatchback.

At the front, this crossover will get a split headlamp design with LED DRLs up top and arrow-shaped LED headlights in the middle section. It will also get a sizeable front grille. On the sides, it will come with diamond-cut alloy wheels, and in the rear, it will get a sloping roofline. At the rear as well, there will be C-shaped LED taillights with a connecting bar in the middle.

Interior Design

On the inside, the Bayon will borrow its design and layout from the i20. It will feature a clean and sophisticated cabin. Key elements will include a 10.25-inch digital cluster, an option of a 10.25-inch AVN screen or an 8-inch Display Audio, and LED ambient lighting technology.

Powertrain Options

Coming to the powertrains that will be offered with the Bayon crossover in India, it has been reported that the powertrain options will be the ones that are currently being offered with the i20 and Venue. Internationally, the Bayon offers a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine available in two states of tune.

Safety Features

In terms of safety features, the Hyundai Bayon crossover is expected to be offered with a comprehensive suite of Hyundai SmartSense safety features. These will include Lane Keeping Assist and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection.
