Hyundai has launched the Creta Electric in India with prices starting from Rs 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes with the likes of MG ZS EV, Mahindra XUV 400, Tata Curvv EV and even some variants of the BE 6 and XEV 9e. The upcoming Tata Harrier EV and Maruti eVitara will also face competition from this. The carmaker has now started commencing deliveries of the Creta Electric. Videos of customers taking deliveries have now surfaced.

It shows a customer unveiling the newly bought Creta Electric along with family, at Sunrise Hyundai dealership. People celebrate the occasion using poppers and more. The family seems to be happy about the new vehicle, finished in what looks like the Titan Grey Matte colour. A dealer staff is also seen giving the customer a quick tour of the vehicle. She even shows and explains the chargers.

The Creta Electric comes in four variants- Executive, Smart, Premium, and Excellence. There are a total of 10 colour options- 8 monotone including 3 matte and 2 dual tone shades. The monotone colours are Abyss Black Pearl Metallic, Atlas White Metallic, Fiery Red Pearl Metallic, Starry Night Metallic, Ocean Blue Metallic, Ocean Blue Matte, Titan Grey Matte and Robust Emerald Matte. The dual-tone shades include Ocean Blue Metallic with a black roof and Atlas White with a black roof.

Hyundai Creta EV: Quick Look At It

In design, the Creta Electric looks very similar to the ICE model. The differentiating elements here are active air flaps, a blanked-off grille with re-designed front and rear bumpers, 17-inch aeroblade alloy wheels, a repositioned Hyundai logo and a front-fender-mounted charging port. The active air flaps located in the lower front bumper improve aerodynamic efficiency by optimizing airflow, to better cool the battery.

On the inside, the Creta EV has a lot of features. It comes with dual 10.25-inch screens- one for infotainment and the other for the instrument cluster. It gets a new steering wheel design. There is no conventional logo on the wheel. Instead, it has the Hyundai logo written in Braille.

There is a new centre console and the feature list includes ambient lighting, an electronic parking brake, a rotary knob for drive mode selection, a panoramic sunroof, front ventilated and powered seats, automatic climate control, 360-degree camera, digital key, ADAS suite, and more. The Creta Electric also comes with V2L (vehicle-to-load) charging ability.

Talking of the powertrain, the Creta Electric is available with two battery packs- 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh. The smaller battery pack has an ARAI-rated range of 390 km while the 51.4 kWh unit offers 473 km. The EV gets a single-motor setup that produces 135 PS with the smaller battery pack and 171 PS with the larger. The long range variant does the 0-100 kph sprint in 7.9 seconds.

There are three driving modes on offer- Eco, Normal and Sport. The drive mode selector sits on the steering column, like what you see on the Ioniq 5. The Creta EV also offers the Hyundai i-pedal technology that enables single-pedal driving.

DC fast charging can make the battery pack go from 10% to 80% charge in just 58 minutes. An 11 kW AC home charger will need 4 hours to recharge the battery from 10% to 100%.
