Hyundai Creta Electric Officially Launched In India At Rs 17.99 Lakh

After keeping everyone on their toes for a long time, the South Korean automotive giant Hyundai Motor India has finally launched the Creta electric SUV in India. The brand’s first affordable electric SUV has been launched with a price tag of Rs 17.99 lakh and from there it will go all the way up to Rs 23.49 lakh (42 kWh variants).
The Hyundai Creta electric is being offered in four variants (42 kWh) namely – Executive, Smart, Smart(O), and Premium. As for the pricing, the Hyundai Creta electric’s base variant has been priced at Rs 17.99 lakh. Meanwhile the Smart variant has been priced at Rs 18.99 lakh and Smart(O) at Rs 19.49 lakh. Lastly the Premium variant has been priced at Rs 19.99 lakh.
It has to be noted that all of these prices are for 42 kWh battery pack variants and these are introductory prices. As for the prices of the 51.4 kWh variants. The longer range battery pack will be only offered in Smart(O) variant priced at Rs 21.49 lakh and Excellence variant priced at Rs 23.49 lakh.
In terms of exterior design, the overall silhouette and design of the Creta look like its ICE sibling. However, there are a number of changes that help in differentiating the two siblings. At the front, the Creta electric gets a blanked-off grille with the charging port hidden behind the Hyundai logo. Also, the SUV gets a pixelated front bumper and aero flaps that open depending on the speed of the vehicle.
Apart from this, the SUV also gets the same vertically positioned LED headlights and connected LED DRLs at the front. Moving on to the side profile, the SUV looks similar to its ICE sibling but gets a set of new 17-inch aeroblade-style dual-tone alloy wheels. The SUV has also been given a new rear bumper, which gets the same pixelated design.
Stepping inside the Hyundai Creta electric, one will note that it continues to get the same premium dashboard layout. However, there are a number of notable differences. The Creta electric gets a new shift-by-wire drive selector behind the steering wheel. It also gets a new three-spoke steering wheel without a Hyundai emblem.
It also comes equipped with dual connected 10.25-inch screens on the dashboard. The left one is for infotainment, while the one on the right displays all the necessary information needed by the driver of the vehicle. Apart from this, it also gets a unique floating center console, a rotary knob for drive mode selection, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, and recycled materials for seat covers.
Other notable features of the Hyundai Creta electric include 8-way adjustable powered front seats with memory function for the driver, dual-zone climate control, an 8-speaker Bose audio system, a wireless charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital NFC-based key, and a V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) feature that helps in using small electrical appliances.
In terms of safety features, the Hyundai Creta electric comes offered with 6 airbags as standard, all four disc brakes, an electronic parking brake, a 360-degree camera, auto hold, hill-start assist, hill descent control, electronic stability control with vehicle stability management, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
Apart from these, the new EV SUV also gets ADAS Level 2. The list of features includes forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, a blind-spot monitoring system, lane-keeping assist, and many others.
Hyundai is offering the Creta electric with two battery pack options. The first is a smaller 42 kWh battery pack, which will offer an ARAI-claimed range of 390 km. It will be paired with a 135 PS-generating electric motor. Meanwhile, the other option will be a 51.4 kWh battery pack that will offer a 473 km ARAI-claimed range and get a 171 bhp-producing electric motor.
The Creta electric can do a sprint of 0-100 kmph in just 7.9 seconds. Both of these batteries can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in approximately 58 minutes using a DC fast charger. On the other hand, with an 11 kW AC charger, charging from 10 percent to 100 percent will take around 4 hours.
