Hy-CNG Duo Technology

Hyundai launched the Exter Hy-CNG Duo in India last year. Like the Tata Punch iCNG, the Exter Hy-CNG Duo comes with a dual-cylinder system. In this system, the vehicle gets two smaller CNG cylinders instead of a single cylinder, which is more efficient in space management. The cylinders are placed underneath the rear boot, which provides more loading space in the boot.

In addition to this, Hyundai also offers this dual-cylinder system with an integrated Electronic Control Unit (ECU). This helps in ensuring a smooth switch between petrol and CNG modes. Apart from this, the rest of the vehicle is the same as the standard Exter.

The micro-SUV comes equipped with a split headlamp setup, H-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs), and LED taillights. Meanwhile, on the inside, it gets automatic climate control, an electric sunroof, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. For safety, it gets six airbags, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill-Start Assist Control, and a dashcam in the top-spec variants.

Powering the Hyundai Exter Hy-CNG Duo is a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine comes paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. It produces a maximum power output of 68 bhp and a torque of 95.2 Nm when running on CNG. It offers an impressive fuel efficiency of 27.1 km/kg. Combined, both cylinders have a 60-litre tank capacity.

Commenting on the launch of the new Exter Hy-CNG Duo EX variant, Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and Chief Operating Officer, Hyundai Motor India Limited, stated:
