Hyundai Motor India has added a new variant to its Exter micro-SUV lineup called the Pro Pack. Priced from Rs 7.98 lakh, ex-showroom, the Pro Pack carries a premium of Rs 5,000 over equivalent trims.

It introduces subtle design updates, such as larger wheel arch cladding and silver side sill protectors, to give the SUV a more robust look. Hyundai has also added Titan Grey Matte as an exclusive colour for the Pro Pack, expanding the palette beyond the existing Titan Grey gloss finish available on other variants.

The Pro Pack is offered from the S+ trim upwards, meaning entry-level EX, EX(O), S Smart, and base S variants remain unchanged. This ensures clear differentiation between budget-focused buyers and those seeking slightly more visual appeal and features. The SX(O) AMT Pro Pack also gains a dashcam, a feature previously limited to higher trims like the SX Tech and SX(O) Connect, indicating Hyundai’s focus on addressing customer demand for added convenience.

Mechanical Setup Unchanged

Mechanically, the Pro Pack is identical to the standard Exter. It continues to be powered by the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 81.8 bhp and 113.8 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a five-speed manual and a five-speed AMT.

Select trims are also available with a factory-fitted CNG kit featuring the same dual-cylinder setup seen in the regular range. Hyundai’s approach here prioritises affordability and ease of production, keeping the focus on cosmetic differentiation rather than performance upgrades.

Market Position and Competition

The Exter competes primarily with the Tata Punch in the micro-SUV segment. Hyundai’s strategy with the Pro Pack seems aimed at maintaining interest and offering small but visible updates rather than rolling out entirely new models.

The segment is price-sensitive, and buyers value practicality, so restrained updates like cladding and feature tweaks are a safer bet than more expensive changes. Despite limited promotional activity, the Exter has achieved steady sales since launch giving Hyundai room to experiment with small value additions like the Pro Pack.

Customer feedback on the Exter has largely been positive, highlighting practicality and competitive pricing as key strengths. The Pro Pack caters to buyers who want added style and small feature upgrades without paying for a higher segment vehicle. Hyundai could extend similar packages to other models if the response is strong, as such enhancements have proven effective in other markets.
