Hyundai Exter: New SX Tech Trim And Features Explained

The new Exter SX Tech variant sits between the top-spec SX(O) and SX(O) Connect variants. The SX Tech variant comes with both petrol and CNG powertrains. The petrol engine on this variant can be had with manual and AMT transmissions. The CNG version comes with a manual gearbox only.

A lot of features can be found in the SX Tech trim. It comes with keyless entry and go, a dashcam with front and rear cameras, a sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an automatic climate control system and projector headlamps. It doesn’t, however, get ambient lighting, a wireless smartphone charger, leatherette upholstery, a cooled glove box and a rear wiper. These are present in the SX(O) trim. The new variant costs about Rs 44,000 less than the SX(O).

The Exter’s CNG lineup starts with the S Executive variant. The base spec gets a single-cylinder CNG storage setup. Pay Rs 8,000 more and you can own a dual-cylinder version (S Duo CNG). The prices of CNG variants are now up by Rs 4000. The top-spec CNG variant is now the SX Tech. It costs Rs 5,000 more than the previous range-topping SX Dual Knight. All variants except the base spec S get a dual-cylinder setup for CNG storage. We have seen similar setups being used in various Tata models including the Exter-rivalling Punch CNG.

In this setup, the CNG is stored in two small CNG cylinders, instead of one large unit. This frees up more boot space. Back when it was launched, the dual-cylinder variants commanded a price premium of Rs 7,000. The CNG versions are claimed to offer a fuel efficiency of 27.1 km/kg.
