Hyundai Motor India Limited announced the launch of a new variant of the Aura sub-4 meter sedan in the market. Hyundai launched the S AMT variant of the popular entry-level sedan from the South Korean manufacturer. The newly introduced S AMT variant has been launched at an ex-showroom price of ₹8,07,700. With the introduction of this new variant, Hyundai aims to democratize its advanced AMT technology, making it accessible to a wider customer base.

Commenting on the introduction of the new variant, Mr. Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and Chief Operating Officer, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said, “At HMIL, we are committed to making smart mobility accessible to a wider set of customers. The introduction of advanced AMT transmission in the Hyundai Aura S AMT reflects our continuous efforts to democratize technology and enhance convenience for customers. With this introduction, we aim to redefine the value proposition in the entry segment by offering superior comfort, safety, performance, and convenience at an affordable price.”

The Hyundai S AMT variant of the Aura sedan comes with features like Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Start Assist Control (HAC), LED Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs), 6 airbags, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System – Highline, Outside Rear View Mirrors with Electric Folding, and Turn Indicators.

Coming to the exterior design, the car remains the same and there are no major differences that specifically indicate this is the new variant. Hyundai offers the Aura sedan in E, S, SX, SX(O), and SX Plus variants. The newly launched S AMT variant is actually a mid-spec variant, which offers a decent number of features along with a convenient AMT gearbox.

This is being marketed as a value-for-money variant. The Aura sedan competes with the likes of the Maruti Dzire and Honda Amaze in its segment. Both these sedans recently received a major generational update.

Coming to the engine and transmission specs, the Aura S AMT is powered by the same 1.2-litre 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 82 bhp and 114 Nm of peak torque. As mentioned above, this variant is available with a 5-speed AMT gearbox only.

The regular versions of the Aura sedan come with a 5-speed manual transmission. Apart from petrol, Hyundai is also offering the Aura with a CNG fuel option, and the CNG versions only have manual transmission as standard.

It was only earlier this year that Hyundai launched the Corporate Edition of the Aura. It was positioned between the S and SX variants but, unlike the recently launched S AMT variant, the sedan was available with both petrol and CNG fuel options.

The sub-4 meter sedan segment is slowly losing its popularity to SUVs or crossovers. This segment is currently being dominated by models like the Maruti Dzire and Honda Amaze, which recently received major generational updates. The Hyundai Aura, which is also a popular choice in this segment, is being offered with new variants at competitive prices to attract buyers. Prices for the Hyundai Aura sedan start at ₹6.54 lakh (ex-showroom) and go all the way up to ₹9.11 lakh (ex-showroom).
