The South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor India Limited’s flagship SUV, Tucson, has managed to achieve a perfect five-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash tests. It is the first-ever Hyundai vehicle to be tested by Bharat NCAP. Prior to its crash test in India by BNCAP, in the Latin NCAP conducted in 2022, the Hyundai Tucson only managed to score three stars.

The current generation of the Hyundai Tucson has achieved an impressive 30.84 points out of a total of 32 in the adult occupant protection tests. In addition to this, the SUV also managed to score 14.84 out of 16 points in the frontal offset deformable barrier test.

Additionally, the Tucson has managed to score 16/16 in the side movable deformable barrier test. When tested for child occupant protection, the Tucson scored 41 out of 49 points. Its dynamic score was 24/24 points, and the SUV scored 12 out of 12 points in the CRS (Child Restraint Systems).

Bharat NCAP has stated that the Hyundai Tucson offered “good” protection to both the driver and the passenger sitting at the front. It added that “adequate” protection was offered to the driver’s chest, and “good” protection was offered to the front passenger’s chest. The same was the case with the footwells of both the driver and the passenger.

Hyundai Tucson Safety Features

The Hyundai Tucson has managed to score this perfect rating because it is offered with a plethora of safety features. Its list of safety features includes six airbags, namely frontal airbags, side chest airbags, side pelvis airbags, and side head curtain airbags.

Apart from these, it also comes equipped with belt pretensioners and load limiters, ISOFIX mounts for child seats, electronic stability control (ESC), a pedestrian protection system, and seatbelt reminders.

The top-of-the-line Signature variant of the Hyundai Tucson also comes with ADAS Level 2. Its suite of features includes lane keep assist, blind spot detection, forward collision assist, driver attention warning, high beam assist, and adaptive cruise control.

2024 Hyundai Tucson

The current generation Hyundai Tucson starts at Rs 27.70 lakh and goes up to Rs 32.87 lakh. It comes with two engine options. The first is a 2.0-litre petrol engine, which produces 156 bhp and 192 Nm of torque. As for transmission, it comes with a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

The other engine option is a 2.0-litre diesel engine making 186 bhp and 416 Nm of torque. Transmission duties are handled by an 8-speed torque converter automatic. The diesel variant is also offered with an all-wheel-drive configuration.

Hyundai Tucson Facelift Also Coming Soon

Hyundai is also working on the development of the Tucson facelift. This particular model has already been launched in international markets, and it is expected to make its India debut next year. It will come with a new, sleeker-looking front grille, LED headlights, and DRLs.

It will also get a heavily redesigned interior. The 2025 Tucson facelift will come equipped with two massive 12.3-inch connected touchscreen infotainment systems and a digital instrument gauge cluster. It will also get a 360-degree camera, ambient lighting, powered seats, a panoramic sunroof, an air purifier, and a ton of other features.

Powertrain options will most likely remain the same. At the moment, the exact launch date for the Tucson facelift has not been revealed by Hyundai Motor India. It could be possible that the company will introduce this model at the Bharat Mobility Auto Expo next year.
