The next big launch from Hyundai is the new Alcazar. Ahead of the same, the Korean manufacturer has now launched new variants on the hot-selling SUVs- Venue and Exter. The Venue gets a cheaper E+ variant that comes with an electric sunroof. The Exter, on the other hand, gets two new variants- S+ (AMT) and S(O)+ (MT)- both equipped with sunroofs.

Hyundai Venue E+ : Key Highlights

The Venue is a sub-compact SUV that is in high demand. It packs loads of tech and features and delivers great value to buyers. The E+ variant sits above the base E trim (currently priced at 7.64 lakh). The only difference is the addition of the electric sunroof. Nothing else has changed. The E+ thus misses out on a touchscreen infotainment system, LED headlamps and auto AC.

Other features that you get on the E+ variant are a semi-digital instrument cluster, front power windows, manual AC, adjustable headrests for front and rear seats, and 60:40 split rear seats. It also has six airbags, 3-point seatbelts for all seats, ESC, hill-start assist and ABS with EBD.

The Venue offers the choice of three engines – 1.2L NA petrol, 1.5 diesel and 1.0L turbocharged petrol. The E+ variant, however, comes with the 1.2 MPi, four-cylinder petrol engine alone. This powertrain produces 83 hp and 114 Nm and is mated to a five-speed manual unit.

Hyundai recently launched an S+ variant to the Venue, with an ex-showroom price of 9.35 lakh. It is also available with the single 1.2 MPi engine option and gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear AC vents, TPMS and automatic headlamps.

The newly launched E Plus variant has an ex-showroom price of 8.23 lakh. It is thus 1.12 lakh more affordable than the sunroof-equipped S+ trim. It has also become the cheapest sunroof variant of Venue.

Exter S+ (AMT) and S(O)+ (MT)

The Exter is Hyundai’s micro-SUV that competes with the Tata Punch. Like most other Hyundais, it packs a lot of features and comes with a comfortable cabin. It now gets two new variants- the S+ and S(O)+. The former is available with a manual gearbox while the latter comes with an AMT. The key highlight of these is the addition of electric sunroofs.

In the Exter portfolio, the S(O)+ sits above the SO and below the SX. The S+ AMT variant is placed between the S AMT and SX trims. The S+ AMT has an ex-showroom price of 8.44 lakh. The new variants have made the sunroof more accessible. The S(O)+ is Rs 37,000 more affordable than the next sunroof variants. The S+ AMT is cheaper by Rs 46,000.

Other than the sunroof, the S Plus and S(O) Plus variants get a digital instrument cluster, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear AC vents, all power windows, LED DRLs and follow-me-home headlamps. This array remains the same as that on the previous variant. In safety tech, the S+ and S(O)+ get 6 airbags, 3-point seatbelts for all seats, TPMS, ESC, hill-start assist, ABS and EBD.

The Exter offers a single powertrain option- a 1.2 Kappa four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 83 PS and 114Nm, mated to either a manual or AMT gearbox. It also comes with paddle shifters on higher AMT variants. Yes, there is a CNG option as well. With these in place, the Exter has become the second most affordable car to offer a sunroof. Tata Altroz XM S, with an ex-showroom price of 7.45 lakh, is the first.

  • Exter S+ MT – 7.86 lakh (ex-showroom)
  • Exter S(O)+ AMT – 8.44 lakh (ex-showroom)
