New Hyundai Verna Crushed Between Lorry And Mahindra Bolero: Cabin Intact, Passengers Walk Away

Accidents on Indian roads are not an uncommon sight. In most cases, these accidents happen due to carelessness. There are cases where people become victims in such accidents through no fault of their own. This is one reason why one must always stay alert on Indian roads. Here, we have a video in which a Hyundai Verna is crushed between a lorry and a Mahindra Bolero pick-up after the pick-up driver rear-ends the Verna.
The video was shared by Prateek Singh on his YouTube channel. The vlogger received this video from one of his followers. The accident happened somewhere on a highway in Tamil Nadu. The whole accident was captured by the dashcam installed in the Hyundai Verna. The current generation Hyundai Verna was being driven on the highway within the legal speed limits.
There was a lorry in front of the Verna, and the car’s driver was maintaining a safe distance from the lorry. Both the truck and the Verna then reached an intersection on the highway which had barricades placed on the road. The lorry slowed down, and the Hyundai Verna driver had enough time to slow down as well.
The Verna came to a stop behind the lorry in time. Everything was fine until this point. However, a Mahindra Bolero pick-up truck was approaching from the rear. For some reason, the Bolero pick-up driver didn’t notice the Verna and the truck that had stopped in front. The Bolero pick-up driver failed to slow down and crashed into the rear of the Hyundai Verna.
Upon impact, the Hyundai Verna was pushed forward, and the sedan got crushed between the truck and the pick-up. The rear dashcam stopped working almost immediately after the crash. The camera on the front windscreen also came loose. In the video, we can clearly see the damage.
The rear portion of the sedan is completely damaged. The tailgate, tail lamps, bumper, and even the rear wheels look damaged. The C-pillar of the sedan also appears damaged in this accident. The front of the sedan is also badly damaged. The bonnet, headlamps, and bumper are all damaged as the car went under the truck.
The cabin of the car looks undamaged, and the occupants in the car escaped without any major injuries. However, we are not sure if the Bolero pick-up driver was severely injured or not. The video mentions that the owner of the Verna has filed a complaint against the pick-up driver; however, the cops have not taken any action against him yet.
The exact cause of this accident is still unknown. It is not clear if the pick-up driver was drunk or simply sleep-deprived. In both cases, the ability to respond to a situation is affected, often causing accidents. This video is another example that shows how accidents can happen on the road even when you are careful.
The Hyundai Verna is one of the safest sedans in its segment and comes with several safety and assistance features, including ADAS. This sedan scored a 5-star rating in the Global NCAP crash test last year.
