Indian cricketer Mohammed Siraj is just back from India’s tour of Sri Lanka, and the 30-year old speedster has just bought himself his dream car – a Land Rover Range Rover luxury SUV worth at least Rs. 3 crore. The Hyderabad-based fast bowler took delivery of a brand new Range Rover from Pride Motors, and took to Social Media photo and video sharing website Instagram to share his joy.
Here’s what he had to say about this brand new Range Rover, a luxury SUV that India’s rich and famous celebrities and businessmen own,
The exact spec of Mohammed Siraj’s Range Rover luxury SUV remains unknown for now. The SUV, which is now assembled in India, starts from Rs. 2.98 crore for the base trim, going all the way up to Rs. 5.2 crore for the top-end SV Autobiography trim.
In the base trim, the Range Rover gets a 3 liter, inline 6 cylinder turbo petrol engine that pumps out 394 Bhp of peak power and 560 Nm of peak torque that comes in at just 2,000 rpm. An 8 speed automatic gearbox transmits torque to all four wheels through an all wheel drive layout, and the near 2.5 ton heavy SUV also gets brake energy regeneration and an idle-stop system. 0-100 Kph? 5.8 second. Top speed? A heady 242 Kmph.
Now, let’s look at the other end of the spectrum – the top-of-the-line Range Rover SV Autobiography. The top-end SV Autobiography trim uses a 4.4 liter V8 twin turbo petrol engine with 523 Bhp of peak power and 750 Nm of peak torque that comes in at just 1,800 rpm. The 0-100 Kph sprint is dispatched in just 4.7 seconds as all four wheels of the SUV get torque through the all wheel drive system and an 8 speed torque converter gearbox. Top speed is an electronically limited 250 Kmph.
The Land Rover Range Rover is also available with 3 liter turbo diesel, 6 cylinder engine with 346 Bhp-700 Nm, and a 3 liter turbo petrol plug-in hybrid powertrain that makes 503 Bhp-700 Nm. The diesel and petrol plug-in hybrid engines are meant for those who want better fuel efficiency.
As for features and creature comforts, 24-way heated and cooled executive rear seats, a 13.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, two 13.1-inch rear infotainment screens, a Meridian 3D surround sound system, premium leather upholstery, multi-function steering wheels, rear-wheel steering are some of the key options that the Range Rover can be specified with.
Apart from the new Range Rover that’s the latest addition to his garage, Mohammed Siraj is also said to own a Mercedes Benz S-Class, a Mahindra Thar that was gifted to him by Anand Mahindra, a BMW 5-Series sedan and a Toyota Fortuner. The cricketer’s story has been one that of rags to riches, quite literally. From riding a Bajaj Platina to practice to now being driven in a Range Rover, Siraj has come a long way. We wish him more success, and hope that he brings more laurels to the country’s national cricket team through his fast bowling exploits.
