When it comes to car modifications in India, people do not tend to do extreme things in general. However, once in a while, there comes a person who does not know any limits and goes as far as he can. Recently, a prime example of one such car modification has been shared online. We are talking about an owner who decided to chop off the roof of his Maruti Suzuki Jimny, making it the country’s first and only convertible Jimny. This owner has also given his Jimny massive 20-inch alloy wheels as well.

India’s First Convertible Maruti Suzuki Jimny

The video of this insane one-off Maruti Suzuki Jimny convertible has been shared on YouTube by SS Vlogs on their channel. The video starts off with the presenter showing this unique Jimny parked in front of an aftermarket alloy wheels and tire shop. He mentions that the owner of this particular Jimny has removed the entire roof of the car to make it a convertible.

Apart from the roof, as can be seen from the video, the rear section of the Jimny has also been removed. This includes the entire rear windshield and roof. From the video, we note that the job has been done very cleanly as there are no rough edges, and it looks very professional, with the edges matching the paint of the car.

The vlogger then moves to the front and shows that this car has also been given a new front grille. Along with this, the car has come for the addition of massive 20-inch alloy wheels. The presenter states that the 15-inch alloy wheels that the Jimny comes with are extremely small and do not fit any other vehicle. He adds that this owner has decided to put custom Brabus multi-spoke wheels finished in black and silver with imported 20-inch extremely low-profile tires.

Custom Interior

Additionally, he also the interior of the car, and it can be noted that it too has been fully customized. All of the seats, doors, and the dashboard have been covered in tan-colored leather, and it looks very beautiful. Apart from this, a bigger touchscreen infotainment system can also be noted in the middle. Overall, this is one of the most highly modified and unique Maruti Suzuki Jimnys in India.

Is It Truly a Convertible?

Now, a few people may be wondering if this Jimny is actually a convertible or not. Well, the correct answer is that it actually is not a proper convertible. This is because it does not have the mechanism for a retractable roof that covers the top of the car. However, even if it had a cover, it would have been called a landaulette. This body type was made famous by the Mercedes Benz Maybach G650 Landaulet, which costs over $2 million, around Rs 16 crore. A landaulette car body style is one where the rear passengers are covered by a convertible top.

Should You Also Remove the Roof of Your Car?

We have to make it clear that although this Jimny without the roof looks very beautiful, it has to be noted that this type of modification can be extremely risky to do. The primary reason is that the roof of a car is a very important part of its structural rigidity, and removing it from the vehicle can make it very unsafe.

Although this modification has been done for aesthetic purposes, in case of an accident, the occupants’ life may come in danger if the vehicle rolls over. So it is advised not to do such modifications on the car that compromise with the structural rigidity of the vehicle. Additionally, these types of modifications are also illegal in India and can lead to the seizure of the vehicle by police authorities as well.
