Jeep Compass Sandstorm Edition Launched In India- Details

Jeep's Indian portfolio consists of four models- Compass, Meridian, Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee. The Compass continues to be the entry point to the American's portfolio. The sales haven't been too great lately, but the Compass does have a reputation in its segment. Now the manufacturer has given it a new special edition, with an intention to boost the sales and acceptance of the ageing model. Called the Sandstorm Edition, it brings more features and equipment to the Compass and makes it all the more appealing.
Like many of the previous special editions, the 'Sandstorm Edition' is also an accessory package that adds a bunch of features to the regular SUV. It is available on the Sport, Longitude, and Longitude (O) variants. The Sandstorm will be a limited-run edition and will thus have some degree of exclusivity to it.
The Sandstorm edition blends rugged design with premium appeal and cabin liveability. It definitely looks distinctive and better than the regular SUV. It commands a premium of Rs 49,999 over the corresponding non-Sandstorm variants. The price starts at 19.49 lakh, ex-showroom.
Visual differentiation remains the core purpose of the Sandstorm Edition. It gets special Sandstorm-themed decals on the hood and sides, and thus has increased road presence. You also get to see 'SandStorm' badges on the exterior.
The cabin gets more features than a regular Compass. Notable additions include front and rear dash cameras, carpet and cargo mats, seat covers that feel more premium, programmable ambient lighting, and more. Jeep also offers a range of personalisation options on the Compass Sandstorm.
Other features on a well-kitted Sandstorm Edition are 8.4 inch touchscreen display with UConnect, a panoramic sunroof, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, Dynamic steering torque, cruise control on automatic variants, and an electronic parking brake.
At present, the Compass comes with just a single engine option- the 2.0 litre, four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that produces 170 hp and 350 Nm. Interestingly, this is the same engine that Tata Motors uses in the Harrier and Safari SUVs. It will even power the diesel variants of the upcoming Tata Sierra.
There are two gearboxes on offer- a 6-speed manual and a 9-speed AT. Front Wheel Drive (FWD) comes standard, while the range-topping variants can also be had with an optional Four Wheel Drive (4WD) setup. Unlike what its name could suggest, there is not 4WD on offer on the Sandstorm Edition. 4WD is currently limited to the range-topping Model S variant alone.
Speaking on the launch, Kumar Priyesh, Brand Director, Jeep India, said: “The Jeep Compass Sandstorm Edition continues our commitment to excite Jeep enthusiasts with exclusive offerings. This edition perfectly resonates with customers who are drawn to the adventure spirit and seek a vehicle that reflects their unique sense of style.
With its rugged design enhancements, premium accessories, and customization options, the Sandstorm Edition amplifies the appeal of owning a Jeep, offering a truly personalized experience for those looking to stand out."
Jeep has attractive discounts and benefits on offer on the Compass for the month of March. Up to 2.7 lakh can be saved on select variants of the Compass. Additionally, savings of Rs 15,000 can be availed by doctors, leasing companies and partners.
