Jeep India has announced price reductions across its portfolio following the implementation of GST 2.0, making its SUVs more affordable from September 22, 2025. The changes bring ex-showroom savings of between ₹1.26 lakh and ₹4.84 lakh, depending on the model and variant.

Major Reductions Across the Line-Up

The Wrangler, Jeep’s most recognisable model, receives the steepest price drop of up to ₹4.84 lakh. Known for its rugged four-wheel-drive system, removable doors and fold-down windshield, the Wrangler has long been positioned as a niche enthusiast vehicle. With the new pricing, it becomes accessible to a wider base of buyers who may have previously considered only mainstream premium SUVs.

The Grand Cherokee also benefits significantly, with cuts of up to ₹4.50 lakh. As Jeep’s flagship luxury SUV in India, it competes directly against premium European and Japanese models. The reduced sticker price improves its value proposition in a crowded space where buyers often compare features and brand image closely before deciding.

The Compass, Jeep’s best-selling model in India, sees reductions of up to ₹2.16 lakh. Balancing everyday usability with Jeep’s off-road character, the Compass has been a consistent contributor to volumes. With the revised pricing, it strengthens its position against rivals such as the Hyundai Tucson, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Citroën C5 Aircross.

The Meridian, Jeep’s three-row SUV, gets cuts of up to ₹2.47 lakh. Aimed at families seeking additional seating while retaining premium appeal, the model now gains an extra edge in its segment.

Competitive Positioning

Jeep’s decision to fully pass on GST benefits contrasts with selective approaches sometimes adopted by rivals. In a market where multiple manufacturers are offering similar features and technology, competitive pricing becomes a key differentiator. By reducing prices across the board, Jeep signals confidence in its line-up and a willingness to compete aggressively for a larger share of the market.

The strategy could be especially impactful for the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. Both models previously carried price tags that placed them out of reach for many buyers. The reductions help reset perceptions of affordability, allowing Jeep to attract not just hardcore off-road enthusiasts but also urban buyers considering luxury SUVs from competing brands.

Broader Impact on Jeep in India

Jeep currently sells four models in India: Compass, Meridian, Wrangler, and Grand Cherokee. India is the first country outside North America where the brand has manufactured multiple models locally for both domestic sale and export. While volumes have largely come from the Compass, the refreshed price structure provides an opportunity to expand appeal across the range.

The move comes at a time when Jeep, part of Stellantis, has faced challenges in scaling sales in India compared with mass-market rivals. Premium pricing has limited volumes, and newer entrants have intensified competition. By lowering entry points, Jeep could broaden its customer base, improve showroom traffic, and increase visibility in segments where it was previously constrained.

The new pricing takes effect across all Jeep dealerships nationwide from September 22, 2025. Whether this triggers a step-change in sales remains to be seen, but the company has signalled a clear intent: to make the Jeep lifestyle accessible to more Indian buyers while preserving its core brand identity.
