The American SUV maker Jeep India has recently slashed the prices of its popular Jeep Meridian by nearly Rs 2 lakh. From now, the new starting price for the Jeep Meridian is Rs 29.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Prior to this slashing of the price, it started at Rs 31.23 lakh (ex-showroom). The Toyota Fortuner, which is the Jeep Meridian’s primary rival, starts at Rs 33.43 lakh, making the Jeep look like a deal.

Jeep Meridian Price Cut

According to Jeep India, this price cut applies to both available trims – Overland and Limited (O). Additionally, the company has stated that customers can also opt for the special Meridian X package.

With this price slash, Jeep aims to make the Meridian more competitive in the Indian SUV market. Currently, it faces stiff competition from other premium SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Skoda Kodiaq, and Volkswagen Tiguan.

Why is Jeep Offering This Price Cut?

The primary reason behind this significant price reduction is to clear out the current inventory. This is being done to prepare for the launch of the upcoming Jeep Meridian facelift. The launch has already been confirmed for later this year.

Over the last few months, Jeep has been spotted testing the facelifted version, dubbed the Meridian 2.0, on Indian roads. The test mule’s main highlight was that it was spotted with sensors for the Advanced Driver Aids System (ADAS). As per the reports, Jeep has partnered with Bosch.

Details of the Upcoming Facelift

From the test mules seen so far, it has been noted that the 2024 Jeep Meridian facelift is expected to bring several updates. These will include both in terms of design and features. On the outside, the facelift will feature redesigned front and rear bumpers, a slightly tweaked grille, and revised LED headlamps and DRLs.

Additionally, as mentioned, a radar module on the bumper hints at the inclusion of ADAS technology. This means that it could offer features like adaptive cruise control, forward collision braking, lane keep assist, and blind spot monitoring.

Moving on the inside, the new Meridian is expected to retain its 10.1-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system and 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. However, updates in material and color choices for the upholstery and dashboard are anticipated.

Additionally, the list of new features of the Jeep Meridian facelift could include a front and rear dashcam and an air purifier. As for the powertrain, it will remain unchanged.

It will continue to come with the 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 168 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. It will be available with either a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic transmission, and a 4×4 drivetrain.

In addition to the price cut and the upcoming facelift, Jeep India just a while ago re-launched the special ‘X’ Edition of the Meridian. Originally introduced in April 2023, the Meridian X is now available for bookings again.

This variant is based on the Limited (O) variant and offers several exclusive features. The Meridian X comes with body-colored lowers, side steps, and grey-colored roof, ORVMs, and alloy wheels.

The interior boasts enhancements like a dash cam, multicolor ambient lighting, premium carpet mats, and an optional rear seat entertainment package. This special edition is available in seven color options: Silvery Moon, Techno Metallic Green, Magnesio Grey, Pearl White, Brilliant Black, Galaxy Blue, and Velvet Red.
