John Abraham To Get Special Edition Mahindra Thar ROXX: Teaser Out
Last year, Mahindra launched the 5-door Thar Roxx SUV in the market. We were part of the media drive too. Bollywood actor John Abraham, who is known for his love and passion for motorcycles, had come to Kochi and shared his thoughts about the Thar Roxx during the media drive. In fact, the actor had hinted to us that he’d get one for himself soon. It looks like the time has finally come. John Abraham is probably going to get himself a special edition Thar Roxx, and a teaser video of the same is now available online.
The video has been shared by Mahindra Thar on its X profile. The video or teaser has been posted with the caption, “When a star's passion meets a rockstar on wheels, expect nothing less than the extraordinary. Watch this space.” In the video, we see John Abraham meeting Pratap Bose and working on the design or theme of his Mahindra Thar Roxx.
It looks like John Abraham is getting a custom vehicle design for himself. On paper, we see Pratap Bose designing John Abraham’s initials for the SUV. The video doesn’t share much information, but it is possible that Mahindra is planning to launch a limited edition version of the Thar Roxx.
Recently, we saw Mahindra launch the Carbon Edition of the Scorpio N in the market. Similarly, a Black or Carbon Edition of the XUV700 will also be launched in the market soon.
We assume that the actor has opted for a Carbon Edition Thar Roxx, which is fully finished in a black shade. The SUV given to John Abraham might have a few customizations, like a decal with John’s initials. Mahindra is known for such customizations, having done them in the past.
Anand Mahindra himself has requested customizations on his Mahindra cars in the past. So, our guess is that John Abraham is either getting a customized Thar Roxx or an upcoming special edition version.
Thar Roxx
Thar Roxx is actually the 5-door version of Mahindra’s popular 3-door lifestyle SUV, the Thar. The SUV is based on the same platform as the Scorpio N, and the 5-door version is much more practical. The SUV is available with both petrol and diesel engine options. In fact, Mahindra is offering several premium features with the Thar Roxx.
In the higher variants, the Thar Roxx comes with ventilated seats, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, Level 2 ADAS, leatherette upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, cruise control, dual-zone climate control, a 360-degree camera, and more. Mahindra is offering the Thar Roxx in both RWD and 4x4 versions. In fact, 4x4 is being offered as an option.
The Mahindra Thar Roxx is available with a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine from the mHawk series. This engine generates 172 Bhp and 370 Nm of peak torque. The diesel version is available with both manual and automatic transmissions. The lower variants of the diesel Roxx generate less power and torque.
The petrol version uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged mStallion engine that generates 174 Bhp and 380 Nm of peak torque. The petrol version is also available with manual and automatic transmission options. As of now, only the diesel versions get the 4x4 option. The price for the Mahindra Thar Roxx starts at Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 23.09 lakh (ex-showroom).
