Diwali and Dhanteras are considered auspicious for new car purchases in India. Most manufacturers post strong sales during this time. JSW MG Motor India has commenced deliveries of more than 100 EVs on a single day in Delhi-NCR. Brand-new MG Comets, ZS EVs, and Windsor EVs reached their new owners during Dhanteras. It is not every day that you see carmakers commencing such bulk deliveries in India. The milestone underscores Delhi-NCR’s growing affinity towards EVs.

Delhi-NCR has been quite promising in terms of EV adoption. Electric vehicle sales grew by 19.5% in December 2023. The region has the highest EV adoption rate in India. The Delhi EV Policy has contributed a lot to this. MG has a strong market presence in the region. Their EV portfolio currently consists of the ZS EV, Comet and Windsor.

MG Comet

This electric car is for the cities. It is loved for its tiny, practical proportions, and is a 2-door hatchback. It would be the best city commuter for two, while you can also fit four if needed. It comes with ample creature comforts and connected car features on the inside. The Comet is available in five colour options.

It is underpinned by the GSEV platform and gets a 17.3 kWh battery pack that promises a range of 230 km per charge. The electric motor can produce 41.4 hp and 110 Nm. There is no support for DC fast charging. It can do a full charge in 7 hours, using a 3.3 kW charger. A faster AC charger was introduced after the initial launch. This brought down the charging time significantly.

ZS EV

MG offers two different ways of ownership for the Windsor. You can either pay for the whole vehicle (vehicle + battery) or just the vehicle and pay rent for the battery pack- called the BaaS system. If taking the latter route, Rs 3.5 would have to be paid in rent for every kilometre driven.
