JSW MG Motor India to Launch 3 High-End Cars This Year

JSW MG Motor India is betting big on high-end cars and SUVs. The manufacturer plans to launch at least three such vehicles in the country this year. The proposed lineup includes both EV and IC-engined models. MG has also set up a new retailer network offering a more premium buying experience, called the ‘MG Select’. Let’s talk more about the 3 upcoming MG Select models in detail.
The Cyberster EV will be the first budget-friendly electric sports car in India. This two-seater convertible is claimed to offer an exhilarating driving experience and comes with futuristic styling. It even gets electrically operated scissor doors, which skyrockets its visual appeal. These, further come with radar sensors and anti-pinch technology. The design takes clear inspiration from that of the MG B Roadster from the 60s.
This two-seater EV gets a soft top and there could be colour choices available to the roof fabric upon launch. The key design highlights are 19 to 20-inch wheels, a split diffuser, side skirts, a bold-looking rear end with a connected LED strip and arrow-shaped tail lights. On the inside, there will be a lot of features like connected screens and an 8-speaker Bose audio system.
The Cyberster impresses with its performance. It gets a 77kWh battery pack and a dual electric motor setup. The range here, is claimed to be 443 kilometres. The combined output here is 510 hp and 725Nm. 0-100 kph sprint takes just 3.2 seconds. This was recently verified in an acceleration test conducted on Rajasthan’s Sambhar Lake, in which the EV was piloted by the F4 racer Mira Erda.
The Cyberster’s suspension consists of double wishbones at the front and a five-link setup at the rear. It is even claimed to have a 50:50 weight distribution.
JSW MG Motor India is yet to reveal the elctric sportscar’s prices. We expect it to fall in the range of 75–80 lakh, which would then make it compete with the likes of the BMW Z4. Rumours from the Bharat Mobility Expo, where the India-spec was showcased, suggested that the price could be lower!
The Majestor is a Fortuner Legender rival from JSW MG India which will be sold through ‘Select’ dealerships. It will be launched in the first half of 2025. The Majestor is essentially a rebadged Maxxus D90. In many global markets, it is sold as the facelifted Gloster. The design gets a blacked-out grille with horizontal slats, a split headlight setup, slim LED DRLs on top, and vertically positioned LED headlights. There are also silver skid plates, full-length Black claddings, 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and connected LED taillights.
The cabin will have features like a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, all-digital instrument gauge cluster, a panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable, heated, and ventilated seats with a massaging function, a three-zone climate control, a wireless charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a premium 12-speaker audio system, and an electric tailgate
The SUV will be powered by the same engine options as the outgoing Gloster. The 2.0L twin-turbo diesel engine will be be able to produce 216 bhp and 479 Nm, and there will be 4WD as well. Likely to be priced in the 40-45 lakh range, the Majestor will battle the likes of Fortuner, Legender, Jeep Meridian, Skoda Kodiaq, and the Nissan X-Trail.
The M9 EV will be JSW-MG’s first high-end electric MPV in India, offering a luxurious and eco-friendly alternative to premium MPVs like the Toyota Vellfire. It is expected to launch around March 2025 and will likely be an expensive product, priced north of 65 lakh.
The M9 has a boxy yet sophisticated design. It will be large and roomy on the inside. The electric MPV will have a 90 kWh battery pack and a front-axle-mounted motor. It will produce 245 bhp and 350 Nm. The WLTP-certified range is expected to be 430 km. It will thus be suitable for long-distance commutes.
