This female entrepreneur from Kerala has become the state’s first lady to own a BYD Seal electric sportscar. Lakshmi Kamal, who owns and runs Mishlak bridal studio has had this achievement at the age of 21. In a recent video by Jaleel Vlogs, the host explains the key details of Lakshmi’s new electric car.
The entrepreneur has bought herself the ‘Premium’ variant of the Seal in Cosmos Black. The electric sedan is available in a total of three variants- Dynamic, Premium and Performance. The Premium trim that Lakshmi has opted for, delivers range of up to 650 km per charge. It has an on-road price of 51 lakh in Kochi, Kerala.
Earning enough to own such an expensive car at the age of 21 is truly commendable. Lakshmi deserves praise for the same. The entrepreneur took delivery of her new ride from BYD EVM Southcoast, the company’s dealer partner in Kochi. She has also shared a delivery video on Instagram. Watch it below:
People can be seen showering praise and auspicious comments on the post. Some acknowledge and admire the hard work that has gone into it, while others wish her all luck with the new set of wheels. One comment reads ‘BYD + Sports mode = boom’ and we can relate to it.
The Seal Premium gets a rear motor that generates 312 hp and 360 Nm. This means you are getting a low-riding electric sedan that gets loads of power and impressive performance (0-100 kph in 5 seconds), along with likeable handling and RWD. What more would you need to have Adrenaline spikes? The Premium variant offers a range of 650 km per charge.
BYD launched the Seal in India in March this year. Despite its hefty pricing, the Seal managed to gather over 500 bookings in the first 15 days. Out of the three variants, the ‘Dynamic’ gets a smaller 61.44 kWh battery pack. The two other variants come with 82.56 kWh units. The ‘Premium’ is RWD while ‘Performance’ gets AWD.
The Seal gets a sleek and modern design with a strong focus on aerodynamics. It measures 4,800 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width, and 1,460 mm in height. The car’s design reflects BYD’s “Ocean aesthetics” language, featuring a coupe-like roofline, flush door handles, eye-catching LED lighting elements, and 19-inch alloy wheels. In India, it is available in four colour options: Arctic Blue, Aurora White, Atlantis Grey, and Cosmos Black,
Inside, it offers a premium cabin experience, packed with modern features. It gets a large, rotating 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a heads-up display for the driver, and a unique crystal toggle drive selector. The interior looks modern, with flowing lines, textured surfaces, and plush trims.
The driver’s seat is 8-way electronically adjustable and comes with a memory function, while the front seats are both heated and ventilated. Other features include wireless phone charging, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, and a 50-litre frunk (front trunk).
On the safety front, the Seal is equipped with 10 airbags, ABS with hill hold assist, automatic wipers, and a 360-degree camera system. It also comes with an ADAS suite and has scored a 5-star safety rating in the Euro NCAP crash tests.
The Seal currently enjoys a monopoly in the Indian market, as there is no other electric sedans on sale currently. The EV space continues to be biased towards SUVs and it is just the BYD till some other manufacturer comes up with an all-electric sedan in India.
