Kia launched their all-new three-row MPV Carens Clavis in the market a few months ago. After the launch of the ICE version, Kia launched the electric version in the market too. The Carens Clavis EV had been tested for quite some time, and they finally launched the EV last week. Kia has now announced that official bookings for the Carens Clavis EV are open.

The official bookings will begin from 22nd July 2025. Customers can book the Carens Clavis EV through the Kia India website (https://www.kia.com/in/home.html) and Kia dealerships across the country by paying a booking amount of INR 25,000.

Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Joonsu Cho, Chief Sales Officer of Kia India, said: “The Carens Clavis EV marks a pivotal moment in Kia India’s journey towards making electric mobility truly inclusive and accessible. Being our first electric vehicle inspired by India, it is a 7-seater EV that reflects our vision to offer smart, sustainable, and accessible EV solutions with a true value-for-money proposition. It will ensure complete peace of mind with our capable EV ecosystem - including the K-Charge feature on the MyKia app and a robust network of 250+ EV-ready workshops, including 100+ dealerships equipped with DC fast chargers. We’re excited to open bookings and invite customers to bring home their Carens Clavis EV.”

In terms of design, the Kia Carens Clavis EV looks similar to the ICE version launched a few months ago. The MPV gets Kia’s 'Opposites United' design philosophy. As seen on most EVs, the front grille is closed, and there are triangular LED headlights and angular DRLs, which we had already seen in the ICE version.

As we already know, Hyundai and Kia share parts and technology, and the Carens Clavis EV is no different. The active flap, which we saw in the Hyundai Creta Electric, is seen here in the Carens Clavis EV too. These flaps ensure aero-efficiency and optimize the battery temperature at all times.

On the inside, the cabin in the Clavis EV looks similar to the ICE version. The major difference here is the floating-type center console. The EV also gets a gear shifter stalk on the right side of the steering wheel. While we have several EVs in the Indian market, the Carens Clavis EV is the first 7-seater EV in the market.

Apart from this, the EV gets 12.3-inch screens (one infotainment and the other instrument cluster), a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, wireless charger for smartphones, air purifier, and premium 8-speaker BOSE audio system. The Carens Clavis EV also offers V2L & V2V, Level 2 ADAS features, and more.

The Carens Clavis EV is not based on a born-electric platform. It is available with 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery pack options. The smaller battery pack offers an ARAI-certified range of 404 km, while the larger version offers a claimed range of 490 km. It generates 171 PS and 255 Nm of peak torque.
