Kia has officially announced the prices for their all-new RV, the Carens Clavis, in the Indian market. The MPV has started reaching dealerships, and we have already started seeing videos of it online. The Kia Carens Clavis has been launched at a starting price of ₹11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Here, we have a video that shows what the lower-spec HTE(O) version of the Kia Carens MPV offers.

It is available in HTE, HTE(O), HTK, HTK+, HTK+(O), HTX, and HTX+ variants. In this video, the Carens Clavis seen is the HTE(O), which offers slightly more features than the absolute base HTE.

The vlogger mentions that the HTE(O) variant gets auto headlamps, electrically adjustable ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, steering-mounted audio controls, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a rear-view camera with guidelines, and speakers. These features are missing in the base HTE version.

The vlogger then starts talking about the exterior of the HTE(O). The MPV is available with eight monotone colour options, and the NA petrol version gets 15-inch blacked-out alloy wheels, which look too small on the Carens Clavis. However, if you are opting for the turbo petrol or diesel variants, Kia will offer a 16-inch styled wheel option.

At the front, the Carens Clavis gets a chrome strip running across the width of the car instead of connecting LED DRLs. The turn indicators are halogen units, and the car comes with halogen bi-projector headlamps. There are ice cube-shaped fog lamps on the bumper of the MPV.

The silver-coloured, satin-finished skid plates can be seen even in the lower version. The ORVMs and door handles are body-coloured, and the pillars are all blacked out for a floating roof-like effect.

At the rear, the HTE(O) variant gets a black strip on the tailgate instead of an LED light bar. The tail lamps are not fully LED, and the car is also missing a rear defogger and wiper.

The vlogger then enters the cabin of the Clavis. The cabin features beige and black interiors with a dual-tone finish on the doors and dashboard. There is no soft-touch material, as this is a lower variant. The HTE(O) variant gets all-black fabric seats, and the one-touch fold second-row seat feature is also present. Dedicated AC vents for all three rows, USB ports, and cupholders are provided even in the HTE(O) version.

Even the lower variants get a digital instrument cluster, though it is a smaller unit similar to the one seen in the Kia Sonet in the past. It doesn’t come with push start button, ventilated seats, electrically adjustable driver seat, or electric sunroof. The AC is a manual unit, but it is equally spacious as the higher variants.

The HTE(O) can be had with 1.5L NA petrol, 1.5L turbocharged petrol, and 1.5L turbo diesel engine options. These engines are only offered with a manual transmission. In short, even the lower HTE(O) variant of the Kia Carens Clavis doesn’t look too basic and offers a decent number of features, including six airbags as standard.
