The South Korean automotive giant Kia India recently launched its much-awaited Carens Clavis in India. This new, more premium version of the already popular Carens is currently on sale along with the previous model. So, naturally, people have now started comparing these two MPVs with each other. Recently, a video showing the comparison of the Kia Carens with the newly launched Carens Clavis has been shared online.

This video of the side-by-side comparison of the two MPVs has been shared on YouTube by Car Spar on their channel. It starts off with the vlogger mentioning that Kia has not discontinued the Carens Premium Optional variant, which is the base variant of this MPV. He then adds that today he will be comparing the Carens Clavis’ HTK variant with the Carens Premium (O) and highlighting all the differences.

Exterior design differences

Front

Following the introduction, the vlogger starts at the front of the two MPVs. He first shows the Carens Premium (O) and states that it gets a split headlight set-up; however, it gets a simple halogen setup. It also misses out on LED DRLs and parking sensors on the front. The Carens Clavis, on the other hand, gets projector headlights, LED DRLs, and four parking sensors, along with a more modern front bumper that looks similar to Syros.

Side profile

Following the front, the vlogger moves to the side profile of these two siblings. He starts by stating that the Carens Premium (O) comes with 15-inch steel rims with wheel covers, no roof rails, and disc brakes on all four wheels. As for the Carens Clavis, it gets 15-inch gloss black alloy wheels, disc brakes on all four wheels, and a roof rail. Both cars also get a shark fin antenna and body-colored ORVMs with turn indicators.

The vlogger then moves to the rear end of these cars and starts comparing them. He mentions that the standard model gets halogen taillights, four parking sensors, and a reverse camera. Next up, he shows the Clavis and mentions that it also gets the same, but the rear taillights are now C-shaped and look more premium. Both models miss out on a rear windshield wiper, washer, and defogger.

Interior differences

After the exterior design differences, the vlogger starts showing the interior of the two MPVs. He states that the seating setup, rear boot, and roof-mounted air conditioning vent setup are the same in both Carens. However, the major difference is on the dashboard and upholstery. The standard Carens comes with a dual-tone black and white interior with black and blue leatherette seat upholstery.

The Carens Clavis, on the other hand, gets black fabric seat upholstery. Apart from these, both MPVs get an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and the same instrument gauge cluster with a digital MID screen. The major difference is the dashboard layout and the Carens Clavis being offered with an automatic climate control system.

Powertrain and pricing

Both the standard Kia Carens and the Carens Clavis come powered by the same 1.5-litre, inline four-cylinder petrol engine. This motor is capable of producing 113 bhp of power and 144 Nm of torque. As for the pricing, the Carens Premium (O) is priced at Rs 11.40 lakh. Meanwhile, the Carens Clavis HTK is priced at Rs 13.49 lakh.
