Kia Carens Clavis EV TVC Released (Video)

Kia has just released the first TV commercial for its newly launched Clavis EV, and it sets the tone for how the company wants this electric SUV to be perceived: energetic, youthful, and versatile. The video takes viewers on a road trip with a group of friends who explore different cityscapes and scenic routes with the Clavis EV as their trusted companion. The ad highlights the vehicle’s ability to blend seamlessly into a variety of lifestyles, from weaving through tight urban alleys to gliding down forested roads. There's a scene with easy parallel parking, another with the boot open for a quick picnic break, and finally, a serene night-time view with the Clavis lit up gently in the backdrop. The visual storytelling tries to associate the car with freedom, ease, and modernity, without any forced drama or exaggeration.
After months of teasers and test mule sightings, the Clavis EV has officially gone on sale, becoming Kia’s first made-in-India electric vehicle. Priced from ₹17.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Clavis EV is positioned as a compact electric SUV aimed at urban families and young professionals. It is available in four variants, with the top-spec trim priced at ₹24.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings are set to begin on July 22, 2025.
The Clavis complements the recently launched Carens EV, which is targeted at those looking for a larger, three-row electric MPV. Interestingly, despite its compact SUV body, the Clavis also features a three-row configuration, making it a rare offering in this size bracket.
One of the Clavis EV’s biggest strengths lies in its practical range options. Kia is offering two battery packs: a 42 kWh version and a larger 51.4 kWh unit. The smaller pack is rated for a claimed range of 404 km per charge, while the larger battery promises up to 490 km. These figures place it ahead of rivals like the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400 in terms of usable range, especially for those planning to go beyond city limits.
Power comes from a front-axle-mounted electric motor that delivers up to 171 PS and 255 Nm of torque. Kia claims the Clavis EV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 8.5 seconds. This gives it enough punch to feel lively during daily drives and capable on longer routes.
Charging options are expected to include both AC wall-box and DC fast-charging support. With the growing Hyundai-Kia charging network, users should find it relatively convenient to charge both at home and on the move.
The cabin of the Clavis EV has been designed with a clean, modern aesthetic. The highlight is the dual 10.25-inch digital display setup, one for the instrument cluster and the other for the infotainment system. Higher variants are expected to feature a sunroof, 360-degree camera, wireless smartphone connectivity, and connected car features.
Rear-seat comfort has been prioritised with a flat floor and generous legroom. Boot space with all three rows in use may be limited, but folding flexibility makes it suitable for small families. Materials and touchpoints inside are expected to follow what we’ve seen on the Sonet and Seltos, offering a mix of soft-touch panels and durable plastics.
Visually, the Clavis EV carries a confident design language. The upright silhouette, boxy proportions, and slim LED lighting elements give it a unique identity in a market filled with curvy crossovers. Flush door handles and a contrasting roof add to its urban appeal, while the squared wheel arches and high ground clearance give it a bit of SUV toughness. Despite being under four metres long, it does not come across as cramped or compact.
Kia’s focus seems to be on carving out a fresh identity for the Clavis. It is aimed at younger users who want their car to feel like an extension of their lifestyle, not just a functional object.
The Clavis EV has arrived at a time when the electric SUV segment is building real momentum. With its sub ₹25 lakh price bracket, strong feature list, competitive range, and design-forward approach, it presents a well-rounded package. While the Carens EV addresses the needs of larger families, the Clavis is likely to attract younger individuals and couples looking for an EV that fits city life but also handles weekend escapes with ease.
With bookings opening soon and festive season timing working in its favour, the Clavis EV is set to become one of the most visible and talked-about new EVs on the road this year.
