Exclusive: Kia Carens EV, Syros EV Launch Timelines Revealed

The South Korean automotive giant Kia is planning to enter the Indian electric four-wheeler market. For this, it is working on the development of two new products, namely the Carens EV and the Syros EV. Recently, the timelines for the launch of both of these electric cars from Kia have been shared online. So, without wasting your time, here are all the details of these upcoming electric cars from Kia.
First off, let's talk about the Kia Carens EV. The electrified iteration of the already popular MPV from the brand will have its official announcement in April, which is next month. As for the grand launch, it will take place in May or June. The exact date will be revealed in the coming weeks.
As for the other details, the all-new Kia Carens EV will most likely boast a different design than the current model. Reportedly, it will be based on the facelifted Kia Carens, which will be launched in the coming months. The Carens EV will get new L-shaped LED DRLs like the Sonet and the Seltos. It will also get LED headlights set lower on the front bumper.
Apart from these, the Kia Carens EV will get a few more EV-specific design cues, such as a blanked-off grille, a new bumper, and a set of more aero-efficient alloy wheels. The rear design will also be different from the standard ICE model, with new connected LED taillights and a new rear bumper.
On the inside, the Carens EV will get a redesigned dashboard, and most likely, it could get a connected dual 10.25-inch screen setup consisting of an infotainment system and a digital instrument gauge cluster. Apart from these, it could also get a panoramic sunroof, an ADAS Level 2 suite, and others.
As for the powertrain side of things, the Kia Carens is expected to come equipped with the same electric powertrain as the recently launched Hyundai Creta Electric. The mid-size EV SUV from Hyundai comes equipped with two battery pack options.
The first is a smaller 42 kWh battery pack, which will offer an ARAI-claimed range of 390 km. It will be paired with a 135 PS-generating electric motor. Meanwhile, the other option will be a 51.4 kWh battery pack that will offer a 473 km ARAI-claimed range and get a 171 bhp-producing electric motor. The Carens EV is expected to carry a price tag starting from Rs 25 lakh.
Apart from the Carens EV, Kia is also looking to make electric vehicles more affordable. For this, it will be launching the electric version of its recently launched Syros sub-compact SUV. The Syros EV will boast the same silhouette and overall design as the ICE model.
However, like all the EV derivatives, it will also boast some design changes to help differentiate the two. The Syros EV will be making its official India debut in the first quarter of 2026.
In terms of pricing, it will most likely be launched in the range of Rs 12-18 lakh to make it a worthy rival to the Tata Nexon.ev and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, which is also about to be launched in the country. As for the powertrain options, the Syros EV is expected to get a 40 kWh battery pack, offering it a range of around 350-400 km on a single full charge.
