Kia India recently commenced bookings for the Syros in India with a booking amount of Rs 25,000. Following this, the company has now rolled out its first customer unit from the Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, plant, where the company manufactures all of its models, including the Seltos, Carens, and Sonet. As mentioned, the event was attended by Kia Corporation’s President and CEO, Ho Sung Song, and others.

Commenting at the rollout event, “Today marks a significant milestone as we introduce the Syros—a futuristic SUV set to redefine the Indian automotive landscape. With its futuristic features and segment-leading innovations, the Syros underscores Kia’s commitment to pushing the boundaries with every new model.”

Song added, “Just as we did with the Seltos, the Sonet, and the Carens, we are excited to welcome a new wave of customers to the Kia brand. As mentioned, the Kia Syros is the latest model to enter the already crowded and extremely competitive sub-compact SUV segment. The current champions of this segment are the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and the Tata Nexon, along with the Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, and Kia’s own Sonet.

Now, for those who may be thinking, why has Kia launched the Syros in the same segment as its sibling, the Sonet? It must be mentioned that both SUVs will cater to different buyers. The Sonet will target young buyers who want a sportier-looking SUV that is still small enough to commute around the city.

The Syros, on the other hand, has been designed to cater to family buyers who often have to compromise on the rear seat space offered in sub-compact SUVs. Even though the Syros measures under 4m, it offers a very large cabin due to its clever tallboy design and choice of colors and features.

On the inside, the Syros comes with the segment’s first reclining rear seats, which also have ventilation. The cabin also feels a lot more airy due to the addition of a panoramic sunroof. Apart from this, the Syros also gets a very unique and modern dashboard layout. The main highlight of this SUV is the 30-inch Trinity panoramic display.

The infotainment screen, air-conditioning controls, and the digital instrument gauge cluster are all in the same connected display. It also gets features such as a two-spoke steering wheel with controls for various functions, a unique gear lever, an electronic parking brake, a wireless charger, front ventilated seats, and a powered driver seat.

Powertrain-wise, the Syros comes with two options. The first is a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, and the other is a 1.5-litre diesel motor. The former makes 120 bhp and 178 Nm of torque and will be offered with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT.
